The freezer works for approximatley two days before the alarm sounds indicating that the freezer has done warm (fridge okay). I have tested all the sensors, fuses, fans, switches and heating elements to no avail. When the fault occurs, the compressor is still running. One of the things that I have been unable to eleminate is the refridgerant diverter valve as I am not sure when it should turn on or what it does. The resistance of the valve seems to be okay. Any assistance would be appreciated. Thank you

sounds like your thermostat is faulty
the thermostat reads the temperature of the cabinet and controls the temperature
the 1 thing to check on the uprights is the evaporator is in the freezer and that makes the cool then there is a fan that blows the air around the fridge and freezer to freeze things
now there is a cycle that hapens to cycle usualy every 12 hours and that is the defrost cycle
this cycle turns off the compressor and fan turns on an defrost element on the evaporator and heats up the coils to get rid of the ice
the ice turns to water and runs through a drain to a evaporator tray and when the cycle is finished the fridge stars up again and goes into the cooling state again
when the thermostat decides that the fridge is cold enough it turns of the compressor and so on it goes through the cycles as required
if the drai is blocked or the defrost system is not working the evaporator will get choked with ice and the fan will not beable to let air through to cool things off

It should work the same as before. Does the compressor get really hot after running a while? If so it could be low on charge, or there could be a restriction inside the refrigeration system. Either way a professional would have to look at it.

Is your circulating fan working?
Sometimes they stick and need a shot of WD 40 and then work
it back and forth a little until it wants to take off again. Keep me informed
and PLEASE give a Thumbs Up for the effort. The Raz Shack

I have the same freezer and get the same problems. Ice forms on the refrigeration fins beind the plastic shroud at the rear and completely blocks the airflow. The fan that moves cool air around does not work then and freezer temp goes up. Ice will often push the shroud forwards so that the door does not close properly. Warm moist air get in and just increases the ice problem.
I take the shroud and fan housing off the rear (4 screws and a wire to the fan) and defrost thoroughly using a hair dryer. You can then see when all the ice has gone..
