Ah, I forgot about synching. The remote and the fan head have small DIL switches that have to be set the same settings. They do this so you can have multiple fans in your home and you can turn them on and off independently, or in a large lofted living area, you could have two that work together.

look on the side of the canopy there should be a slide switch. if moving this switch has no effect, then either the switch is faulty or the connections to it may have fallen off.

sounds like the pull cord switch i dont thunk you will be able to find a replacement proberly cheaper to buy a new celing fan
