SOURCE: staple gun support

Know the types of staple guns available. They can be manual, electric, battery operated or run by compressed air with an air compressor. Some staple guns have guide wires because they’re used by electricians that can’t pierce wires. Others have long noses to work well in corners and tight spaces. There’s also a reverse built ergonomic staple gun called a "forward action" because the handle and the staple’s exit point are on the same end of the staple gun. Some staple guns can shoot brads instead of staples. Know how each type of staple gun works. This one is so simple because it works just like a stapler. You press and hold the silver latch on the back of the stapler to open the body. Take the tray out and fill it with staples. Then it’s ready to use. Just put the staple ejecting end on your piece to be stapled and squeeze it. There is also the forward action manual gun which is used by pushing the handle down, too. The handle is just located near the staple ejection site. Use an electric staple gun for effortless stapling. There’s no need to squeeze or apply any pressure on these guns. They come with a very short cord so you will always need to have an extension cord with your staple gun. You can also go with a rechargeable battery operated cordless staple gun. They are great but they do run out of steam so for long use one with a cord is better. They’re also pretty easy on the wallet these days, so there’s no reason to go without this in your home tool kit as it’s something that does a lot of jobs. Know the versatility of the staple gun. Whether you have a manual or an electric model, these are some of the most versatile tools out there. You can use them to recover furniture, to build a birdhouse, to staple lattice to a patio, to build lightweight projects like a small knick knack shelf and to do wiring work.

SOURCE: bostitch nail gun number SB-21n1 is jammed and

Hello. Begin by disconnecting the air hose. That way you can not get hurt while removing the jam. Get a pair of needle nosed pliers and remove each of the jammed staples. They will pull out I assure you. Then Use a little WD-40 or compressor oil to lubricate the working mechanism at the firing head. IF you must loosen up the mechanism to remove all of the staple parts be sure to use the correct size allen wrench. I am providing link to a free manual for your gun in case you don't have one: http://bostitch.com/catalog_images/web_pdf/107674.pdf

I have a Staples Shredder model SPL-TXC6A (serial 0809026807), which I have been using a lot lately. The auto and reverse buttons will not function, & neither will the forward button.

Contact Staples to see if they can repair your shredder or replace it. It sounds like something you could get replaced with warranty.

Tre550 stopped working

Problem is the safety micro switch. This is engaged when you press the gun against the surface. You can open the gun and short the wires. Do remember will not safety switch and hence you must ensure others know this - no children!

Is it possible to shoot yourself in the chest?

I guess it would be depending on the type of tool. Most tools have a safety mechanism that would have to be defeated or completely disabled to fire without depressing the safety and could fire freely. I would think again depending on the product that there are guidelines on the proper use and safety of the tools and as far as anyone in the house there are not kid toys and I would not let a minor use one even under supervision unless the adult knows all the functions of the tool. You can go to Stanleybostitch.com and view some of their products and manuals. I hope I answered your question

Safety

Never let a youngster play with the staple guns. Even the manual ones eject staples with a great deal of force. If something is strong enough o enter solid wood, it is too dangerous for kids. Keep these locked up or in some safe place away from the kids. Keep the safety latch on at all times when you aren’t using it. This will prevent accidents but remember not all staple guns have this feature so you may want to look into finding one that does if you have children around. Of course, you don’t point the gun at anyone else and you keep your fingers out of the way of the staples. With a little common sense, stapling can be a fast, safe and simple way to do all kinds of repairs and projects around the house.
