Insert SIM card if not inserted.

switch off your blackberry, remove the back cover and battery, and remove the sim card. Replace it after about one minute and it should not read SOS anymore.
If it still reads SOS, insert your sim card into another cellphone to see if it also reads SOS in a different phone. If it does, you need to call the company you bought the sim card from.
Eg; if it's an MTN sim card, call MTN; if it's Vodacom, call Vodacom etc.

It seems that the Sim Card is not inserted properly or the Phone does not support the Network in which the Sim Card works. Try using different Sim Cards and make sure you have tried 2G and 3G Sim Cards. Some Phone models are Country specific means they work only to particular Network like CDMA.

1) your phone did not detect your sim card.
2) you forget to insert the sim card.
3) the sim card you put in is defective or not properly inserted.
4) defective sim card terminal or slot inside.

for problem no. 1, 2, and 3, try removing your sim card and try inserting it again in correct and secure way.

for problem no. 4, have it repaired to service center.

its because of sim card error please insert some other sim card and on it for at least 5 hour once mobile frequency clock will set to new sim card then re insert old sim card it will take effect 100 %

Replace the SIM Card with your service provider

PUK means "personal unlocking key" .

The PUK code is asked if you enter a wrong pin 3 times.

You need to call the phone company that released the SIM card, they can retrieve the puk code from a database for free.

In your case you need to contact your SIM card provider technical support to unlock the SIM.


The PIN and PUK are related to the SIM card, not to the phone.

If you replace the SIM card with a different one, then the phone will not ask for the PUK anymore.

Soft reset your phone by removing the battery and the SIM card for one minute. Insert back the SIM card again and the battery.
