I hate to ask the obvious but is your water supply turned back on since the filter change?

  • It may be turned off. Look for the wire along the right side of the ice maker that looks a bit like a coat hanger. If the wire is in the raised position, the ice maker is turned off. If so, try one of these:

    • If your ice maker has a small red plastic lever, lower it to lower the wire.

    • If there's no plastic lever, simply lower the wire.

In either case, the ice maker should begin producing ice again. Also make sure that the temperature is 8 degrees Fahrenheit or lower. If the freezer is too warm, the ice maker won't cycle properly.

  • The ice maker fill tube may be blocked with ice. If so, melt the blockage using a hair dryer-but be careful to not melt any plastic parts! Also replace the water shut-off valve or water-inlet valve, or both, if necessary.

  • The ice maker head assembly may have broken parts. Look to see if the gears are broken. Check to see if the small plastic arms that rest against the ice rake are broken. If the ice maker head assembly is modular and you've found broken parts, you can just replace it.

SOURCE: ice maker will not dispense the ice

The auger motor and coupling in the rear may be frozen and won't turn.
Remove the ice bin.
Place a screwdriver or similar device in the forks of the auger and twist counterclockwise till it moves. The replace the ice bin and try again.
It will be difficult to move.
If that does not work. Turn off the fridge and use a hair dryer to hrat the auger gear and motor till it frees up.

SOURCE: Ice maker not working

I recently had trouble with both my water dispenser and my ice maker. I determined that my filter was clogged, so I replaced it. That fixed the water dispenser but the ice maker still wasn't working. I investigated further and found that the water inlet tube was frozen solid. Aparently, when the filter was clogged the water came in so slowly that it froze before it got to the icetray. I tried pouring hot water over the inlet tube to melt it and it mostly worked, but there was still some ice in the tube further back where I couldn't reach. Finally I defrosted the freezer so all the ice could melt and turned it back on and now it works great! Hope this might help.

Sounds like you have a problem with water valve/triple solenoid assembly. It controls the flow of water to the door and ice maker. I believe it comes as a complete unit.

Ice maker is not working - sensor bar rolls up but no ice in ice maker - no water in ine trays

Sound like it is the dual water control only. Try filling ice maker with tap water and then let freeze. If after the ice in the ice maker dumps the cubes into the ice container and does not refill I would think the water control valve is at fault. I see your model had three different choices of water control valves and listed on this page=> Here and in right sidebar about 1/3rd down the page you will see three different water control valves. Here is your Service Manual=> LG LFX25960ST Stainless Steel French Door Refrigerator Try this test first because you mentioned no water in trays. I have a model GD5PHA whirlpool refrigerator, no ice

the ice maker control the water timing.
if you have voltmeter you can check it on the water valve that go to the ice maker. but you can also disconnect the water from the valve and see if water are coming out.
99% its the ice maker that go bad.

My ice maker has stopped working, the water continues to dispense thru the door yet the ice has stopped

Most likely the water control valve on the rear of the refrigerator is defective for the ice maker side of the valve. Try filling the ice maker with tap water and let freeze. If the ice drops and cycles and does not refill then the water valve is the problem. If the ice maker does nothing when you try this the ice maker is the reason. Send me your model number and I can tell you the parts that need replaced. Let me know, Thanks, Sea Breeze

Solenoid valve?

By not knowing what model or how old of fridge you have, I'll give info on the most common 5 to 10 year old whirlpool. They were all basically the same.
Sounds like the water valve. When you have both water and ice in door, you will have a valve for both. Sometimes there is a single valve followed by a double valve. The double is most likely bad. Most of the time the double valve has two different size tubes. one is 5/16" and the other is 1/4". The one that supplies the ice maker is the one with the small tube (1/4") If both are the same size you will need to determine which is which. Seeing you water in door works, try this. Find the double valve. Swap the plugs going to it. Now push the lever in the door like your getting water. This will energize the ice maker valve. If water does not enter the ice tray, you have a bad double water valve and it will need to be changed. If water does not enter the ice maker try, you have a ice maker not calling for water, meaning that there is a micro switch is bad inside the ice maker head. You can replace this switch for around $6.00. or replace the ice maker it's self for around $100.00. It's not had to change the micro switch. You might want to give it a try.
Please rate this solution if helpful. Thanks

The ice maker in my whirlpool gold refrigerator Model No, GR2FHTXTBOO, is not working.

Hello jitkagardner,
Welcome

You said, The ice maker in my whirlpool gold refrigerator Model No, GR2FHTXTBOO, is not working.

How old is the fridge?
When have you last changed the water filter.
Should be down below at the front grille!
Try these tasks!

If the ice maker is not producing ice or not enough ice
Refrigerator connected to a water supply and the supply
shutoff valve turned on? Connect refrigerator to water
supply and turn water shutoff valve fully open.
• Kink in the water source line? A kink in the line can reduce
water flow. Straighten the water source line.
• Ice maker turned on? Make sure wire shutoff arm or switch
(depending on model) is in the ON position.
• New installation? Wait 24 hours after ice maker installation
for ice production to begin. Wait 72 hours for full ice
production.
• Freezer door closed completely? Firmly close the freezer
compartment door. If the freezer compartment door will not
close all the way, see "The doors will not close completely."
• Large amount of ice recently removed? Allow 24 hours for
ice maker to produce more ice.
• Ice cube jammed in the ice maker ejector arm?
Remove ice from the ejector arm with a plastic utensil.
• Water filter installed on the refrigerator? Remove filter and
operate ice maker. If ice volume improves, then the filter may
be clogged or incorrectly installed. Replace filter or reinstall it
correctly.
• Reverse osmosis water filtration system connected to
your cold water supply? This can decrease water pressure.

Let me know how it goes!

Kenmore Ice Maker

Sounds like a water valve problem to me. Force the ice maker to cycle. (turn it off and let it get cold for at least an hour then turn it back on). Test for voltage on the ice maker side of the valve. The valve is usually in the back near the floor. Just follow the water line. Another solution. switch the wires on the water valve. then try the water dispenser and see if it makes the ice maker fill up. See if when the ice maker cycles water comes out the door. If the ice maker causes water in the door , replace the valve, If door switch causes ice maker to fill up replace ice maker again.
