Panasonic washers use the U12 code to indicate that the lid is not closed and can't lock properly. Make sure that the washer is level. Check for any dirt or other item blocking the lid from closing. Gently clean the latch area on the machine and the lid. Some top-loading washers use a magnet to activate the sensor. Check if the magnet fell out of its usual position. Replace it if needed.
I found one manual for the NA-F160H6 here: https://d3lfzbr90tctqz.cloudfront.net/epi/resource/r/lavarropas-automatico-panasonic-11-kg-na-fs11p6sag-inoxidable/9f7d726972873eeafa7fb3c6254d61909b7337c8b25a7d85cb824625cdbac4dc . The error codes are on page 27. Unfortunately, I haven't found a parts list for the machine. (I did find one for the NA-FS80X1 in the Service Manual, https://www.manualslib.com/manual/1251235/Panasonic-Na-Fs80x1.html#manual .)
I hope this helps.

Hi,thank you Cindy much appreciated,I have checked my manual and it doesn't tell me much about the U12 .I have tried everything and my magnet is in place checked that as well!!
In this case, the latch or the electronic control board could be faulty. Alternatively, the wiring harness could have damage at the connectors or between the two parts. Somehow the lid closed message isn't getting to the control board. If the machine is under warranty, contact Panasonic for the repairs. Since I don't have a parts diagram, I can't give much advice. You probably have a wiring and trouble-shooting guide inside the machine near the control panel. Most appliances include these for the service technician.

SOURCE: panasonic washing machine model no
it is due to the magnet attached at the tip of the lid. the magnet acts as a sensor that give info whether the lid is closed or open. i got the same problem too but luckily the i found the magnet nearby the washing machine.
SOURCE: Hi friends, I have Panasonic
Hi from retired Englishman in SW France,
Sorry but I do not know your particular machine BUT I would suggest as a first step that you clean the drain motor lint tray/filter. So many 'faults' are caused by blocked filters. The motor is unable to drain all of the water in the allotted time.
Here are my complete, general pre-typed guidance notes for checking filters and motors ;-0)
-------------------------------------
If you are unsure where the filter is, it is often behind the front lower (kick) panel (or in some machines at the rear in an awkward position!) and held in by a round cover/knob.
REMOVE POWER AND ENSURE YOU HAVE A WATER RECEPTACLE/RAGS TO SOAK UP THE WATER WHICH IS BOUND TO POUR OUT!
It's surprising what people have found in theirs! It is always worthwhile checking it on a regular basis.
Now- whilst the filter is removed it is normally possible to see the drain motor and ensure it is not jammed by a foreign object such as a needle or a toothpick. It should be able to be turned by hand/finger- the power IS OFF!
At this point it is also possible to test if the motor works. No clothes or water in the machine, select a spin cycle and put the power back on. You should be able to see the motor turning at some point, possibly straight away. If it doesn't work then the motor is malfunctioning!
Hope the filter is the problem and good luck!

SOURCE: The error code U12 shows
The "U12" is due to the magnet that is attached at the tip of the lid. the magnet acts as a sensor that give info whether the lid is closed or open. Either the magnet has come off or it is not aligned properly.

Try this: it should give answers to the "self-diagnostics".
