Unfortunately, there is no good way I can think of to know without actually replacing the board. I recently replaced fans on a modern fridge (GE) only to be left with the control board being the only likely remaining suspect. Many on the internet posted that they had to replace the board to fix their problems. However, my brother was tired of trying to fix the fridge, and he got rid of it instead.

Above is the latest service sheet to do with your machine.
That SY ER is the SYtem EvapoRator Fault. This usually means there is NOT enough air flow over the sensor, this can mean a faulty sensor, or fan.. you need to check.
In my professional opinion you should get a service tech to call, contact your head or local Frigidaire offic, and ask them for a referral to an authorized service agent. When there then ask for a "Quote" as to the repair, this way you can make an informed decision.
usually though a repair such as this shouldn't be too costly, however it may just be the tip of an underlying condition, which is why i suggested the professional.

NOTE: This
is a multi-solution answer since I don't have all the tech from your question to pinpoint your problem
But the solution is in here generically, if you read and study the solutions very, very carefully.
First I would check cold control. Thats where you turn it off, if your temp is not warm. it can
be defective and not shutting off. If your temp is warm proceed with the following.
I would check the fan in the freezer. Listen to see if it is running
It moves air to the ref from the freezer
Then check to see if FREEZER CONTROL is turned warmer which makes REF. colder or vice versa.
Also this might be a common Defrost problem, Ice
is not being melted by the defrost system. The fan can't blow through the coils into the fridge.
Take out back panel of freezer to check for ice buildup. The coils should be clean.
There are three components to a defrost system- a heater, heater thermostat, and a timer unless you have a defrost electronic card.
Its best handled by a Technician but you could possibly do it by taking your model number to the nearest appliance parts store and asking for the parts. They are mostly located in freezer ,behind back panel on freezer coils.except the card which is usually located in ref The parts store will have info
Also check fan undernearh Ref in the rear
Clean condenser coils underneath
Make sure back cover is on the fridge. Some take them off and throw them away.
make one out of cardboard if its gone, using the holes of the old one.

WATER SPLASHING IN FREEZER AT ICEMAKER
THE FILL TUBE IN BACK OF REFRIGERATOR CAN SLIP
AGAINST THE FILL RESERVOIR CAUSING A PARTIAL BLOCKAGE
OR BECOME CLOGGED WITH ICE.
REMOVE THE ICEMAKER AND INSPECT THE FILL TUBE.
RUN WATER IN TUBE TO ELININATE BLOCKAGE AND CHECK
TEMP IN FREEZER. IF TEMP IS BELOW 0 DEGREES, THATS
OVERKILL AND USUALLY A WASTE OF ELECTRICITY TO KEEP IT THAT COLD, NOT TO MENTION THE FILL TUBE FREEZING UP

SOURCE: My Frigidaire Gallery refrigerator showing HI temp.and with code5Y and EF, what does it mean?
An EF code is indicative of an Evaporator Fan Circuit Failure. Can it be stopped by ice or frost? Absolutely. Press the freezer up button and the freezer down button simultaneously for 6-8 seconds and you will enter a test mode. Every time you press the fresh food button after entering the test you will advance to the next test. They are not in numerical order. Go to test 26 (The defrost circuit test) and it will show CL for closed or OP for open. If it shows OP you have a defrost issue. If CL there is no defrost problem. Next go to test 15 - keeping in mind they ( the tests are Not in numerical order). When you get to 15 press the main power on/off button. The 1st time you press it the display will show LO and the fan should be on low speed. The next time you press the power button it will show HI, and the fan should be on high. It is a twelve vdc fan motor wire colors red, yellow, brown, and blue. They originate at the j6a and j4a connectors. If the fan does not come on in the test the check will be made at the control. There should always be 12vdc between brown and red, and there should be 9 - 12 vdc between brown and yellow in the test. The blue wire is a tach wire and feeds info back to the lower control which is located behind the kick plate underneath the unit. EX factory service 22 years currently an instructor. According to the TROUBLE PUNDITS at
applianepartspros (see below)
You either have a 12vdc EVAPORATOR FAN failure... or the control board is defective...

I have a Frigidaire refrigerator. The error codes messages are EF and SY. The part # is: 241509402 and model # is: LGHS2634KP0 D. W for Model Number 241509402
ANSWER Hello D. W. The error code that you are getting indicates a Evaporator fan 241509402 failure. You want to check the wiring at the fan motor and at the control board. Check for 12vdc to fan between red and brown wires. Check for variant voltage (depending on high or low speed) between yellow and brown. If it checks ok then replace the Evaporator fan. If error code still exists then replace main control board 5303918514. You can test this with a multi-meter TJMA-DMT3. Here is a link on how to use a multi-meter. http://forum.appliancepartspros.com/oven-repair-including-ranges-cooktops/4810-how-check-continuity-ohmmeter.html
