Interesting - looks as if there could be a problem. Have you inadvertently set 'Write Protect' on the card, perchance ?

SOURCE: Camera will not work with sd card

Had the same problem, blew out the card slot with air and fixed it. Apparently poor contact points with the card.

SOURCE: Sd card won't click into place on my Nikon d60

Check your SD card, there may be a piece of it missing. Did the same to my camera and looking into the card holder, there was a piece of SD card lying at th bottom! (I used a needle to dislodge it!)

Nikon B500 camera. I put a new memory card in my Nikon B500 and the camera says 'card not present'.

Is it this type of card?

The B500 is compatible with SDHC and SDXC cards. That means you can use cards from 4GB all the way to the largest cards currently available. (at that time 128GB)

And is it less than 128GB?

Your Nikon Coolpix B500 Digital Camera is compatible with 16GB, 32GB, 64GB and 128GB SD, SDHC and SDXC memory cards.

Just purchased NIKON COOLPIX B500. I put in brand new Sandisk SD memory card And as soon as I shut the battery case the monitor says “this card cannot be used!” What’s up with that?

At the Time the Camera was made , Nikon lists a number of compatible memory cards. Each year both cameras and cards can read and write data faster. Cheap cards today can be read much faster than written. If any camera can take many photos in a short time, a slow cad will not allow the camera to operate as intended.

Why won't my Nikon Coolpix b500 (red) turn on? When I just press the on button, it shows a green light also. What does this mean?

The best solution would probably be to check with your seller if it's still under warranty and let him solve the problem, but in case you want to be sure, go through the manual of your camera to see what the lights mean, if you don't have a manual you can find it here:

Best memory cards for Nikon Coolpix B500 digital camera.

They all work fine and differences , if any, are minute - just make sure that you do not get a card that is oversized for the unit. Check your manual for maximum capacity to be used.
