Hi.. I need your help. I am in Durban South Africa and in possession of a broken Toshiba 40L3400 flat Screen TV.. I checked the mother board/power board and realized that a capacitor was blown. I had it replaced and the new one also blew up soon as I plugged the T.V. What could be the possible cause? I have no background in electronics.. Just watched a few videos on youtube and attempted fixing my TV
It's important that the polarity is correct, the + on the capacitor lined up with a +n the circuit board, also if the cap was (for example) 1000uF 25V , the replacement must be a least 25V, not less.
Testimonial: "Hi Walt. Thank you or the feedback. I confirm that the spec of the capacitor was similar to the initial one.. The charges were matching as well.."

I had the same problem. My nephew gave me this set after it quit working at the Gym where his wife was working. They were going to junk it but I asked if I could try and fix it.
The capacitor C2250 was definately blown and easy to spot so I did some searching and found a replacement from an online electronics supplier that didn't require me to buy 200+ as Digitech wanted. Anyway I replaced the Cap and it still didn't work so I started looking and testing components again and found that the Diode D2250 was bad so replaced it as well and now the set works fine. Maybe this is what is wrong with your's and others as well.
It made sense for me to check the diode as it is right next to the cap that blew. https://www.mouser.com for the Cap and http://www.slelectronics.net/ for the Diode.
The specs for the Cap/ CERAMIC CAP. B K 1500pF/1KV
The specs for the Diode/ SCHOTTKY BARRIER DIODE YG123S15
Hope this helps

May try to replace your power supply. Average cost runs $200 via Internet. Also may inspect test & replace deformed an or any bulging caps.

next to the fuse that blows is 4 large black diodes.one of those is common to short out. the bad one would give you areading of zero ohms when checked with a meter. or just replace all 4.most likely its location D603. hope this helps

The DT250 has one or more bad 470uf 25v capacitors. You should replace all four. Look at some of these youtube videos for how do do the replacement.
