Hi, I am trying to program P-25 systems on my uniden bcd396xt scanner, but I cannot find the tgids to enter into the scanner. Can anyone help?

You should only have to program the CC (control channel) frequencies for P-25 systems. You should be able to pick up all talkgroups. Then you could I.D. and program only the talkgroups you want to hear.

Uniden bcd396xt scanning but no sound coming from scanner

BCD386XT No sound. If it is actually stopping on an active broadcast and if you have the volume turned up (press down on volume button and release, then rotate to adjust) then the most likely cause is a failed speaker. Try a set of headphones in the jack on top by the antenna, if you have sound there it is most certainly a bad speaker. It is a very tiny speaker that is as thin as a nickel, many have been broken by a simple jar or by being played too loud by the hearing impaired. It is not hard to change but basic soldering skills are required. the speaker is available from uniden parts.

Uniden bearcat scanner bc142xl manual

Hello, the good news, though, is that all Uniden/Bearcat scanners in the 14X series are nearly identical in features and operation, so you can follow the link below to download/print the manual for the BC148XLT:

You need adobe reader to read the content.

Good luck

Uniden BCD396XT...........I programmed my channels with my computer. I cannot get back to them...........I will pick them up when I turn the unit on then it scans public safety............

While the unit is scanning the public service band (or other
preloaded like NEWS etc) press the Func button once, located on the left side
(the top one). Now within one second press the L/O button twice. This
permanently locks out that system. Pressing the L/O button only once will lock
out that band only until the next time you turn the scanner on, then it will be

How do i get the police code for haverhill mass they when digtial and scramble how do i get around it

There are no codes, only frequencies, and you can find a comprehensive database of active frequencies in your area, along with a lot of other useful scanning information, by visiting:

If local law enforcement is using trunking, digital transmissions, or P25 security, you'll need a scanner that offers those features. Still, there are security systems, such as DES and DVP, that you cannot "get around" with any scanner. For digital trunking and P25 decoding, check out the Bearcat BCD396XT handheld and the Bearcat BCD996XT base/mobile.

Scanner help

I agree with the first solution, but with the following expansions. You can purchase a new scanner for anywhere between $70 and $500+, so it's important that you know what you want to listen to and what types of communications are in the area where you will listen. The BCD396XT and BCD996XT are top-of-the-line digital scanners that will copy just about anything that is not protected by sophisticated encryption, and not every one needs something that comprehensive. Ditto on the (I'm a long time member), and you can use them to research your area's communications BEFORE you spend the money on a scanner. If you do go with a top scanner I strongly recommend that you DO NOT pay to have it programmed. If you do, you will learn nothing about the way your scanner works. For the same price as one-time programming you can purchase software that will do the job over and over, and it can even give you Virtual (computer) Control of the scanner. BuTel is the best software that I've found, and their ARC-XT-PRO for the mentioned scanners sells for $69.95. I just purchased a BCD396XT, and with the BuTel software I had it programmed and running in less than an hour. I've been using for about 25 years, so your start-up time will be a little longer. eBay is a decent source for a bargain on a new or used simple scanner, and try Scanner Master (my favorite) or Scanner World for the top units.
