Hoover Wind Tunnel U6433-900

Hi-

I have a hoover wind tunnel (u6433-900) where the brush is not rotating. It broke on Thanksgiving as I was rushing around cleaning before company arrived. It had a horrible smell, resulting in the need to open windows and doors.

This morning I cut all of the hair, strings, and whatnot off of the brush with a scissors to see if that was the issue. I also took the bottom cover off and checked the belts. The thicker one on the side and towards the back was still spinning, but the smaller one towards the front is not.

The suction works just fine when I use the tools, but the brush does not engage at all when I try to vacuum. It actually makes a strange noise.

I looke up vacuum repair shops by me, and there are only 2. They charge $20 just for an estimate, so I thought I'd see if anyone else could help. I'm handy, so I know I could fix it if I just knew what was wrong.

On a side note, the self propell has not worked for quite some time. Is this difficult to repair? I'm fine without it, but thought I'd ask as well.

Thanks so much!

We are having the same problem. Every 2 months or so the brush stops rolling, horrible burning smell, and smoking. We clean off the brush, change both belts, new bag and filters, and check for clogs. This has worked the previous two times, but not this time. Also our self-propel has not worked since a moving company handled it about 18 months ago. Not that big of a deal, but we are wondering is there any correlation between these two issues?

I have the same problem, I have changed the belts two times. I'm about to change them again. The vacuum worked great in he begining...I'll never buy another hoover.

The problem i see the most is that people have the setting on the front of the vacuum
for "floors" not carpet, switch it over and it will start as soon as the handle is released , if not try belts and finally motor burnt out.

I'd try changing both the belts. If the flat belt is stretched it will affect both functions.

Where is belt located on Hoover wind tunnel vacum. And how to replace it. My brushes are not spinning.

Its usually located underneath the body of the unit, turn it upside down and you should see the beater brush. You need to open the bottom cover to get at the brush and drive belt.

How do you change the Hoover wind tunnel belts?

If you turn the vacuum over there will be (4) screws that hold on the base cover for the roller brush. Remove the screws and the cover and you can get to the belt(s). You can get replacement belts here:

Filter in Hoover Wind Tunnel Vacuum

Definitely not. Do not use water or any liquids to clean it. Te normal use life is 2-3 years keeping it maintained. You can clean it dry with the dust brush from your vac attachments. place in a plastic bag and tap it some folks even us an air compressor to blow out the impacted dirt. you will only want to use the Hoover brand, other generic brands dont fit as well.

Hi. I have a Hoover Wind Tunnel Deluxe vacuum, and the rotating brush does not spin any longer, but still has air suction. Cause ? Sincereley, Teresa T. [email protected]

Could use the model number. Most use a belt, if yours does, then you may need to relace the belt, also check the brush roll.

HOW DO I REPLACE THE DRIVE BELT ON A HOOVER WIND TUNNEL SELF PROPELLED

Take the brush belt and slip it over the pull into the groove. Then take the flat belt and hook onto the motor shaft and then pull belt over pull and push it around the entire pulley. It can be difficult but after the first time it is easy. You have to push the belt up with your thumbs so the belt will wrap all the way around
