You probably just have the arms pointed the wrong way. To travel forward the angled part of the arm should be pointed in a clockwise direction. Aim them the other way and it travels backward.

There are 3 things this "off power" "light bulb" could be. Blinking red light? means fuse has gone out. Check the power source where the unit is plugged in to. Is the GFI popped out? plug something else like a fan or something into the socket to test. the third thing is a short internally. Call orbit technical assistance. they're great.

Timer has 4 year warranty
The manual has troubleshooting
Looking through the manual I can see potential trouble areas:
-Water pressure too high > 60 psi is ordinary household pressure > order Brady BTG pressure gauge that connects to hose
-Overlapping times are 'stacked' by timer ... but 'more than one start time' is listed as cause of stations turning on when not supposed to >> reset and re-program timer, make chart of on-off times
-Weak or missing AA batteries >> clean terminal inside timer and replace batteries
-Hard water deposits or unfiltered water clogging water valve (water softeners frequently have this problem) >>> see if vinegar or CLR cleaner can help flush water valve >>> add sediment filter in front of timer
-Look at screen > does display show Manual? As in manual mode
-Fuse blown
-Bad solenoid
-A combination of problems listed above with sediment -or- solenoid as main suspects
