You may have a corrupt driver, so go to my computer, right click>properties>hardware tab>device manager, then look at the list for mice and other pointing devices, click on the '+' sign and and then your touch pad will be listed, right click on it and select uninstal.
Restart the pc and it will automatically reinstall and should work as normal
Hi:
There isn't much to do for your laptop , except to replace the keyboard. They are somewhat fragile, and do often fail. The good news is that they are inexpensive to replace, usually less than $20. Check out your make and model laptop on ebay, and make sure the keyboard looks identical to yours!
reinstall the drivers for your sound card, you don't have to have the install cd just go to support.dell.com and choose your model pc, and dl the audio driver
It could be the 'back light' is burned out.
Or
Press Fn and F5 simultaneously to make sure the display
priority is not set for the built-in screen.
Or
Press the 'brightness up' key a few times.
Display problems
Here are some typical display problems and their solutions:
The screen is blank.
Display Auto Off may have gone into effect. Press any key to
activate the screen.
You may have activated the instant password feature by pressing
Fn and F1 simultaneously. If you have registered a password, press
any key, type the password and press Enter. If no password is
registered, press any key. The screen reactivates and allows you to
continue working.
If you are using the built-in screen, make sure the display priority is
not set for an external monitor. To do this, press Fn and F5
simultaneously (once). If this does not correct the problem, press Fn
and F5 simultaneously again to return the display priority to its
previous setting.
HINT: Holding the Fn key and pressing the F5 key several times will
advance you through the display options.
If you are using an external monitor:
❖ Check that the monitor is turned on.
❖ Check that the monitor’s power cord/cable is firmly plugged in.
-- Try adjusting the contrast and brightness controls on the
external monitor
If you has been installed the right drivers, it is hardware problem. Try to use the factory touchpad program for your sony touchpad and see what happen (not only the driver, also the program touchpad software)
Go to Device Manager, right click on yellow !, use windows update to update driver If that doesn't work, do a complete wipe out and do a clean install of new Operating System.
The Mp3 player may need a powered USB2 supply and not a peripheral powered supply.
The only reason your other usb ports may not work is that the controllers need re-installing or they are not enabled; see this post:-
