Linksys routers have a built-in webpage server. You need to use your web browser to go to it's IP address. I think the default IP for Linksys is 192.168.1.1 (type that in the address bar of your browser).

Once you get to the router's webpage I think you need to go to the "Wireless" section and there you should be able to change the channel. That's where I found the channel on my Linksys wireless router.

Good luck.

The ethernet cable connecting the router to the WAN doesn't require a channel. The channel setting is there for when laptop computer connects to the wireless router.

Channels 6 and 11 are mostly used in this scenario.

Does your wireless router communicate with your Internet provider wirelessly?

Hope this helps :) Please leave a rating. Thanks..

  • Anonymous Nov 27, 2007

The phone should be on 2.4 GHz, 5.8 GHz or lower. With the community alarm being on Channel 11, there seems to be the interference.

What is the version of your WRT54GS?

HOW TO Connect tl-740n wireless WIFI router to PTCL DSL WIFI ROUTER

The easiest way to chain two wireless routers. *Please note this is just to have wireless access*
Make sure DHCP is enabled for both, make sure their SSID (the name that shows up when you connect to it) is different.
Make sure they are both different networks. So for example configure the first for 192.168.0.0 network and the other for 192.168.1.0. Now plug an Ethernet cable from the 740n router (WAN) port into a (LAN)

Second method *This only works if the tl-740 router supports AP mode (Access point).
In the configuration of the 740 router, enable AP mode and make sure DHCP and nat are turned off if they are on. Configure the wireless to operate on channel 1 6 or 11. Name the SSID the same as the other router. Plug in Ethernet from WAN 740 to LAN on the other router. Now on the DSL router make sure the SSID is the same and select a different channel from (1,6,11). Now you're all set.

Update error message #32004

To solve this error :

Ensure you are using a broadband or high speed internet connection such as cable, DSL, or fiber optics. Slower connections, such as dial up, may cause issues with the Wii or may not work properly.

Ensure there is no interfering devices by shutting off microwaves, cordless phones, wireless keyboards, and wireless mice.

Disable your firewall settings, as it may be causing a connection problem.

Try changing the channel of your wireless router to either channel 1 or channel 11 which can increase download speeds. Be sure to test both channels to see which works better or faster.

If you are using a Netgear wireless router, disable the SPI firewall setting which is usually found under the WAN Settings of your wireless router.

If you are attempting to connect your Wii console online using the Nintendo Wireless (Wi-Fi) USB Connector and you receive this error.

I want to change the channel my Linksys is using. So I went to Internet Browser and typed in my IP address. It said I need a Username and Password. Where would I find that.

Connect your router to computer with ethernet cable then you can access it with following default link. http://192.168.1.1 or http://192.168.0.1 or http://192.168.15.1 or http://192.168.2.1 If you are not able to access it with above ip then check your computers ip address gateway ip is your router ip try with it. Then it ask for user name and password. Type user as "admin" and password as "admin" or "password" or blank. Then you can see configuration page of router. Then configure wan settings and lan settings enable wireless if you want to use wifi Then save settings and restart router Then connect cable from internet service provider to WAN port of router and connect ethenet lan cable from computer to lan port of router. . If you are not able to access router with above user and password then yo need to reset it. For that press RESET button for 10 seconds it is in back side of router. Then configure it again with above method.
Let me know if you need further assistance. Thanks for using FixYa.

Intermitence wireless

This can be caused by various issues but the first thing I would check is to change the channel your wireless router is broadcasing through. Many 2.4Ghz cordless phones, as well as microwaves can cause the signal level to drop in and out on your wireless devices. You have to access the web page for your router to change the channel and then you have to change the channel on your wireless device to match as well. It will be a trial and error process to determine which channel works best for your devices. There should also be step by step instructions in your user manual which will walk you through the process. Hope this helps

My dynex won't connect to my laptop

Try to change the channel first on your router. Access the router's admin page through http://192.168.1.1 and look for wireless tab and change the channel to 11. Save the settings. On your laptop, verify if your wireless settings is matching the router's wireless settings like the SSID and the security or encryption used.
