My Samsung UN40EH5050FXZA 's screen went dim for a half minute or so. I turned it off with the remote and then turned it back on. After a few seconds it went dead, no red light. I found a puffy capacitor on the power supply board. I ordered a power supply from ShopJimmy and installed it. I still have no red light when plugging it in and pressing the power switch. Can you suggest anything else I can do? I felt sure the PS would fix the problem. The board i ordered was a Samsung BN44-00496A (PSLF760C04A) Power Supply / LED Board. It visually appeared to be an exact match to the original. Thanks in advance. Should I replace the main board or could something else be the problem?

Follow these steps to figure out what problem is.
When you turn on TV, look at the back and see if the back light on. If it is on, the power supply and inverter work fine. The suspection now is main board and T-con board (the small board on the middle-top of the panel)
To find the problem from the main board or not. Look at the power supply and measure Vs on - turn on the TV, this approx 5 vlt DC needs constant once you turn on the TV. If it is drop or unstable - main board problem - replace it.
If Vs on is good - disconnect the T-con cable from the power sup. If power sup stop clicking - T-con need replacing. Hope it help.

Yes based on your testing it appears that the power supply is at fault solely and you can opt to attempt a repair or replace it altogether. Unfortunately you will not be certain that the main board does not also need to be replaced until you have repaired the power supply.

Lightning damage can do a # on LCD TV's. I've seen cases where it took out power supplies and main boards at the same time. I'm not one who likes to use the "shot gun" approach. You would need to get the set professionally diagnosed in my opinion. Where did you get the main board from?? Are you sure it is a working board?

You can't see if a cap is good or bad jus looking at them they have to be measured>They loose their capacitance because they dry overtime.
I do sugest that you replace you power supply module or replace all caps.Possibily you may have a broken line in the PCB
The problem might be with the remote. Have you tried turning on the set with the on/off switch on the side of the tv?
Testimonial: "remote is fine once I get the red standby light to come on the tv works as it should I can turn the tv off and if I try to turn it back on within 4 minutes it will work if I wait longer the red stand by light stays lit but the tv wont turn back on until I unplug and plug it back in many times thank you for taking the time to answer"
