Hi,
If there is Totally Black Display, It confirms that the LED bulb in the
display has burned out. It might have 2 lead wires and a plug, which
connects it to the power supply from the board. The part number must be
mentioned on one of the lead wires.
You can buy the part from Yamaha. Start at:
http://www.yamaha.com/yec/customer/partinfo.htm
Or, you may be able to find a generic replacement at a good electronics
supply house; most bigger cities have them. They sell to retail, but
most of their business is with independent repair shops.
Even Radio Shack has LED diodes (they are not bulbs) and you might find
one that is close enough to fit in with some Rube Goldberg adjustments
or a little rubber cement to hold it in place.
Sumitomo is a parts house in Japan that probably supplied the original
part to Yamaha. They are a big company, but you could also try their
website; unfortunately, I don't think they have an english version.
They are a very big company and tracking down a supply for such a
small item would be a huge task.
Bottom line; I think the best solution is a generic LED diode that can be altered to fit the opening left by the old one.
PS: They are not expensive. Maybe a few dollars. Maybe you can find
one that will fit into the same holder so you can use the same cable
and connector that was used by Yamaha.
PS: If you are talking about the acutal lamp bulb that illuminates the
main dial, you can always find replacements at places that sell various
small bulbs such as auto supply houses, electronics parts houses, etc.
Just make sure it is the right voltage rating and same pin
connections, etc. If you don't know the voltage, you can buy a volt
meter for about $9.99 at Radio Shack and measure it. But for LED
diodes, they operate on current, not voltage, and they are all pretty
much the same except for color and current rating (which controls how
much illumination they give)
Hope i helped you.
Thanks for using ' Fixya ' and have a nice day!!
