This video covers how to fix a Panasonic 42" Plasma TV model TH-42PX600U that has vertical distorted ...
NOT DEFECTIVE!!! There are 4 or 5 ribbon cables on the bottom or on one side, they control part of the plasma screen. Check the ribbon cablenear the black lines. Unplug the ribbon cable and look for black chipson the underside of it, I think they say 100 on them, you need toresolder both ends on each chip. Should fix the black line issue.
The line of color is due to a failure in the vertical circuit. The main suspects are the vertical Ic AN15525A and/or capacitor c308 [email protected] If you have the capacity to do so, you should check the other electrolytic capacitors in the vertical circuit which are USUALLY located near the vertical IC in most cases you can purchase the part at https://www.encompassparts.com/webwiz/wwiz.asp?wwizmstr=WEB.SEE&partnumber=5760279&smodel=CT32SL15N or mcm electronics

On al the plasma tvs there are control boards on the lower part of the screen that control the vertical images. If one of the chips on one of the boards fail, have a bad connection, or no ground it will result in a thick black lne down the screen. Seeing as the tv is new I would get the warrantee repair on it. There is a possibility that there is a problem with the screen itself but more than likely its the boards.
This is usually caused by a dry joint on the vertical driver board or ribbon cable. Remove back panel and run your fingernail or an insulated rod (chopstick) along the contacts until the bars go away, then resolder the joints.
