My butterball electric turkey fryer is not working. The red light flashes once and that is it. Does not get warm or anything.

All appliances that produce heat have a thermal cutoff inside to prevent a fire or meltdown. It's a shame they make them so fragile that it may ruin your special occasion. If you cross the wires on the sensor it may run forever but might be a fire hazzard.

Why wont the skin get crispy in the Butterball turkey fryer. We have tried everything.

element isn't getting hot enough. maybe only heating half way. need to replace element and or controller temp inside without food should reach 425 deg.

There is a thermal cutoff near the heating element just like all appliances that make heat. It's supposed to stop a house fire but makes these appliance companies a lot of money.
