SOURCE: I need to install a GFI breaker on a Baptistry.

You could install a standard GFCI in line at each component ( heater, pump & timer) or you could install AFCI breakers similar to what are required in many residential codes (provide the same protection at the panel not at the location... http://www.cpsc.gov/CPSCPUB/PUBS/afcifac8.PDF

The AFCI breakers will need to match your panel type (siemens, GE or Square-D) and the amperage/configuration.

I would install them at the lowest level (closest to the components) in the system to reduce possibility of fire in the wiring between the components and the afci breaker.

SOURCE: Need Alternate for Federal Pacific Breaker

Does the panel have room for the breaker?

Federal Pacific is a brand name panel and you may be able to find breakers at Home Depot, Menards, or Lowes if those stores are in your area. Bring the panel number to the store with you.

Here's a link for additional info:

There have also been some recalls for these panel breakers. See:

SOURCE: Gfi Breaker 2 Pole 20 Amp: installed 20 amp dbl pole breaker to hot tub. Keep...

When Working with Household Electricity you want to always keep in mind that the BLACK wire ALWAYS carries DEATH. What I mean by this is that working with a Single Phase Circuit (one that uses 120VAC) the only wire that should be carrying a voltage is the BLACK one, the other 2 wires (typically the White Neutral and Green Ground) should both be electrically connected to Earth Ground (usually by being attached to your water pipe.)

It is also possible that your hot tub may use more than 20 Amps.

We want to buy a Neff bu-in double oven which needs a 20 amp supply (hard-wired).Our old existing oven is running on a 30 amp supply apparently. Will we have problems when the new Neff is fitted?

The breaker could be changed from 30a to 20a. A 30amp breaker will run the unit but you will have less/no protection since the oven will pull 10 extra amps before it trips which could totally fry your oven depending on the failure.
Re-check the wording to see if it says 'minimum' 20amp breaker or if it indicates 20amp breaker only. If it's minimum 20amp I'd run it.
If it says 20amp only, I'd change the breaker. The existing wiring and outlet will be OK, if the plug-in is the same.
Get an electrician to change the breaker. You should really know what you are doing before you try it yourself.

What size breaker

Rule of thumb:
Typical residential water well is 1 to 2 Hp @ 240volt
Use a double 20 amp breaker and 12 gauge wire up to 2 Hp pump/ within 100' distance
Use double 30 amp breaker and 10 gauge wire for 3-4 Hp pump/ within 100'

Circuit breaker trips frequently. It is a double 20 amp switch.

Is this breaker connected to water heater?

1) A double 20 amp breaker is called a 240Volt breaker.
20 amp breaker is actually rated for 16 amps for safety margin.
It is also important that this breaker have 12 gauge wire which is color-coded yellow.
Look at label on side of water heater for wattage of unit.

2) For example 4500 Watt water heater is typical.
4500 watts divided by 240Volts = 18.75 amps which is nearly full capacity for the 20 amp breaker, and is slightly above the safety margin.

3) If breaker is getting old, and it works at full load each time water heater is on, it can wear out.
Open circuit breaker box and replace breaker:
http://waterheatertimer.org/How-to-replace-circuit-breaker.html

4) You can also move circuit breaker wire to another same-size breaker and see if problem continues.

Can a 240 volt outlet be ran off this breaker and can a 240 volt electric baseboard heater be wired to it or should i use double pole breaker?

You need 240 breaker:
Notice that your 240V breaker is twice as wide as regular 120V breaker.
Notice that both switches are tied together on 240V breaker, making this a double-pole breaker.

I have a wood planer with a 3HP 220 single phase motor wired to 20amp circuit breaker in my house. I usually run the planer off a 12gauge extention wire about 30ft from the house plug. I would like to...

Look on the planer to see what the R.L.A. are, for example 16.0 amps. Set a box with 2- 20 amp fuses, or a double pole 20 amp breaker. Do not exceed the amperage of what the planer says on its data plate. If the R.L.A. is 10.0 to 19.3, use a 20 amp.

I have a trailer house that has a 100 amp breaker box in it. I has gas for heat, water heater and stove. I am changing them to electric. Will I need to change the panel put to a 200 amp.

Its probably not a bad idea. Thats alot for a 100A panel to handle, a range needs a 50A, a water heater needs 30A, and the heat will need a 50A or a 60A breaker... Plus whatever else is in the house will be a bit more than the 100A service can handle. But if you don't have the money it will do for a while because for the most part they won't all be pulling at the same time. Word to the wise get at least a 30 space panel when you upgrade, I always install a 40 space panel because for the cost difference its well worth it for future needs because you'll fill it up quicker than you think and you'll have space for anything else you may want to add later on. Hope I helped

I do not have power when i turn on my 20 amp double pole breaker in the heater circuit. can the breaker be bad?

it's possible that the breaker is bad. Remove the wires from it and set it on a table. get a continuity tester and check continuity from one terminal on one side of the breaker to the other when the switch is both on and off. When you have it on there should be continuity when it is off there shouldn't. if this isn't the case with all terminals on the breaker, you need a new breaker.

Double 20 breaker switch slot in the back is to short and it won't seat right.

Are you installing it in a GE panel? Look on panel cover and it will list the compatable breakers. Even though some breakers "fit" different brand panels, they ar not approved if not listed by manufacturer of the panel to be used in that panel

Can I wire two heaters on one source? I have model RDH2010 (1000W/2000W)which is 240v. I am using 220 wiring,

One, double pole, 20 amp breaker feeding the two heaters will be okay IF you have #12 AWG wire and NO other loads on the circuit. 4000 watts will pull 16.6 amps, that's max for a 20 amp circuit.

Fridgeidaire clothes dryer

I will try this again i don't think i posted it properly.
On the power cord where it connectes to the dryer make sure the red and black wire goes to the outside screws (L1& L2) the white goes in the middle and the green goes to the dryer cabinet.
If you have the red or black going to the middle one it will trip the breaker.
