The Radio you have is probably an older version, in this case you will need KPG56D. the other possibility is that the software you have is dos driven if this is the case then you will need to install the software on a slower machine with DOS 6.22. I use a pentium pro with windows 98 to program most of my kenwood radios. you will also have to disable any virus software and disable any TSR files on the machine in order to program the radio. The windows base programs don't have these quirks. take a look at your software and let me know what happens.

the software is a dos executable. copy it onto your media of choice and paste it into you your other PC. vista will not run this unless you install virtual pc2007 and load win98 in the vista environment. vpc07 is tricky because you have to set up conduits for the virtual com ports that link your physical port. some serial to usb adapters won't function for these. I have had fair luck with kenwood and vertex using this setup.
