I just connected my new Kworld PC/TV converter. My tv now displays large vertical color lines. I,ve connected the yellow video cable, s-video cable and the red/green/blue cable. I have a new Toshiba laptop with Windows Vista. I've clicked the FCN key and tapped F5 to get the icon that shows LCD/CRT. I,m unable to view my laptop screen on my older TV.

    settings were checked and removed all cables except yellow composite. still large vertical color lines on tv screen. tried fcn/f5 and laptop screen does not show on tv screen

  • harristb Aug 07, 2009

    i replaced the yellow cable and checked the resolution 600x800 pixels. no change

  • harristb Aug 07, 2009

    The TV is Sony FD Trinitron WEGA KV-36FS100. The only information about the converter is KW-PCTV NTSC V1.4 No other information on box or packing list. What is pls?

  • harristb Aug 07, 2009

    Recheck- yellow cable from yellow video out jack on converter goes to yellow video 2 jack on the face of the TV

    cycled through video1,2,3,4 only video 2 displays the vertical color lines

    cycled through FN/F5

  • harristb Aug 07, 2009

    When I excercise the converter P/N switches, the TV flickers until I return to NTSC.

  • harristb Aug 07, 2009

    The Toshiba is connected to the converter through a supplied VGA cord.

  • harristb Aug 08, 2009

    The red/green/blue cable was connected from the converter to the back of the TV. The slider switch on the side of the converter was moved to the center position RGB. The TV video button was advanced through video 1-4. The TV screen on video 4 had color formed like "Zs". FCN/F5 buttons were used advancing through the icons.

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, a couple of checks:

  • verify that the P/N switch is set to the color system of your country. N (NTSC) for US and P for most of Euroope and Australia;
  • depending on how "old" the TV, the Screen Resolution of the Toshiba may have to be brought down to the lowest possible setting;
  • additionally, the Screen Refresh Rate may likewise need to be lowered say 60 Hz;
  • all of the connections you mentioned are video connections. However, only 1 should be used. You may have to experiment (again depending on the TV) which setting & connection would give you the best picture;
  • offhand, the component connection (if applicable, the red/green/blue cable) would give the best connection followed by S-Video and last would be yellow (composite).

Please postback results of initial checks.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.

    Appreciate your postback and additional informaton.

    Most of the 'old' TVs would only work with 640 X 480 @ 60Hz, could the Toshiba be set that low?. You could also try replacing the yellow cable.

  • Anonymous Aug 07, 2009

    Try plugging the USB to another USB port of the Toshiba.

    800 X 600 might still be hight then. What is the brand & model number of the TV pls?  Additionally, pls confirm that the Kworld PC/TV converter is an SA235.

  • Anonymous Aug 07, 2009

    Sorry, pls is please.

    A review if we may:

        video cable from yellow jack of Kworld PC/TV converter (marked AV OUTPUT) to yellow jack of Sony KV-36FS100. If at the rear, it should be either 1 or 3 marked VIDEO (not 4 marked Y); or

        video cable from yellow jack of Kworld PC/TV converter (marked AV OUTPUT) to front yellow jack of Sony KV-36FS100 marked VIDEO 2 INPUT VIDEO;

        press on the TV/VIDEO button of the Sony's remote a couple of times to cycle through the available video inputs till the laptop's display is shown;

        on the Toshiba Fn + F5 a couple of times to cycle through LCD, TV, LCD + TV.

  • Anonymous Aug 07, 2009

    It would appear that all the conections and the TV's setting at Video2 are all correct.

    A possibility is to try and exercise the P/N switches of the Kworld PC/TV converter.

  • Anonymous Aug 07, 2009

    How is the Kworld PC/TV converter  connected to the Toshiba please?

  • Anonymous Aug 08, 2009

    Could you try using the component video (red/green/blue cable) and set the Sony to Video 4?

  • Anonymous Aug 08, 2009

    Please confirm the exact model number of the Kworld PC/TV converter. The different models and products of KWorld maybe viewed starting here.

    A possibility to consider is that the new Kworld PC/TV converter is not functioning as expected and would require replacement.

Picture while booting up, lost when home is loaded

The PC to TV converter is not setup for the correct conversion. When PC's start up, they use 800x600 screens which is close to TV standard, and they can synch. If the PC is set for a much higher resolution for a monitor, it is too far off to display. Check the converter. Or set the display settings to 800x600.

Color bars only on KWorld PC to TV - Composite and SVideo

found this reference it may be of help

This product appears to be defective. I connected it to a working video camera that produces an excellent picture on a standard monitor. I looped the video from the camera through the monitor to the converter which is connected to a new ACER LCD display. The LCD display workes perfectly when connected to my computer. Using the converter, the results are poor. You can see the desired picture in the background but in the foreground there are horizontal bars that scroll vertically through the picture. I'm returning it for an exchange - will try again.

TRying to get my PC to TV converter up and running

I just purchased the Kworld 1600 PC to TV Game Box today. I also had the same problem as many others seem to have had. The TV screen displayed only colored bars. After searching on line for troubleshooting ideas I finally was able to correct the problem, thanks to help of people responding to these problems on "FixYa", and I thank you, as I was ready to return the product at a loss of 15% of the cost (restocking fee).
I am using a Toshiba Satelite L350D with Vista Home Premium and a 2005-32"JVC TV.

First ensure that the Monitor Y-cable supplied has been properly installed to your PC and your TV (my first mistake). Each plug is individually identified, that being, TV, monitor, scan cnvtr.
Second, on Vista go to Control Panel, open (Double left click) the personalization icon. You can then open your display settings.click on advanced settings, this will open a window for your graphics card. Click on "List All Modes", use an 800 x 600 High Color Mode, 16 bit, 59 or 60 hertz, hit 'OK' and that window will close.Then hit 'Apply' in the Graphics Card window(the screen will go black and then set itself to the new mode). You may have to try a few different 800 x 600 modes to find the best one for your TV.
Thirdly this converter is only for video, not audio.
For audio you must use a 1/8 stereo plug from your PC headphone jack to an RCA adapter into the Left and Right Audio Input of your TV.
Make sure you are using the same Video Input Section for both your audio and video (Video1, Video2, Video3, you cannot plug the video into Video1 and the audio into Video2).

After setting this converter up on my Laptop I was also able to plug it into my 7+ year old desktop (Cicero P4, XP Home Edition).
I hope grouping these 3 problems into 1 will help others and save them some time and frustration.
Thanks again to everyone on "FixYa" for their help.

KWorld PC to TV Converter

I had the same problem. It turned out the issue was that I had the VGA Y-cable connectors between the PC and the KWorld box reversed. They look like they should be interchangeable, but they are not. A closer look at the cable connectors shows that one is marked "PC", one is marked "Monitor", and the 3rd is marked "SCAN CNVTR". Once I got them plugged into the right places, I got the screen image on the TV.
