Question about Toshiba 65H81 65" Rear Projection Television

1 Answer

No Sound I have a Toshiba 65H81 RPTV. I have always used my surround system for the sound, so I never really used the internal speakers on the TV. I tried to hook my kid's Wii up to it using the RCA jacks on the front panel, and I could not get the sound to work. I took the TV apart a year or so ago to clean the lens, mirror, etc. and then performed the detailed convergence using a grid. It is possible that I disconnected the speakers somewhere and failed to re-connect them. I've looked for a loose connector, but I don't see one anywhere. Does anyone have any ideas? Thanks in advance.

There is not a button on the back, and the speakers are definately enabled in the menu.

Do you know how to reset the TV to factory defaults in the service menu? Maybe that would fix it.

Actually, I have the service manual and the schematic manual, but I can't find any settings to enable the audio in the service menu. I was concerned that when I performed the convergence process that I might have accidentally changed a value somewhere along the way which disabled the audio, but I can't find any reference to such a setting.

thank you for your assistance. My problem actually turned out to be pretty simple. You were right with your first post about a switch on the back of the unit. It is labled "Center Channel Audio Input," which I am not using, so I did not pay any attention to it. Somehow the switch had gotten moved into the "ON" position which disabled the sound inputs. When I moved that switch to the off position and connected a regular DVD player to the front panel inputs, everything worked perfectly.

This is a great service, and thank you again for your very valuable assistance!

Sentry 2.1 surround sound speaker system. i have my rca cords plugged in to my tv, but i only get sound from my tv, nothing out of the speaker itself. it only works when i have my headphone jack into

Most televisions have a setting that controls whether the TV uses its internal speakers or sends the sound to the audio out jacks for an external amplifier or speakers.
Try going through the settings menu and follow through the audio/speaker selections and confirm that the TV is set to use external speakers.

Sound changed

I would first go into your audio menu and make sure the correct settings haven't been changed, also the variable or fixed output is on fixed.
Does your set have the external surround sound speakers for the rear or are you using an external surround sound audio system?

No sound from daewoo 42" plasma

This particular model doesn't have internal speakers. It has two removable external speakers mounted on the left and right side of the tv. If you didn't get the external speakers with the tv, you won't have sound unless you use a surround sound setup.
