Re: mp600 can't load drivers
Try deleting any previous drivers installed, unplug the printer USB from the computer. Restart the computer run the driver CD leave the printer unplugged then when the cd asks for the printer, power it on and connect it to the computer let it install automatically see if that helps good luck.

Hi Joy, Disconnect the printer completely from the PC.Unplug its power cable too. Reboot your PC. Connect everything again from scratch but use a different USB port to connect to the PC.Make sure everything is well connected.Try printing now.Cant print? Under printers and faxes, check whether 'work offline' is checked by right clicking on the printers icon and 'Uncheck.Still cant print? Uninstall the printer driver on your PC,reboot the PC and install software again. If you don't have the installation disks, install from this Hp Support site making sure you select the driver that correspondswith yourOperating System[Windows 7,Vista,Windows XP etc]
The print spooler is located in services. Start, run,(type) services.msc, then ok. Double click print spooler and start the service. Also look under the dependency tab and make sure all dependent services are running.
Click on Start -> All Programs -> HP -> HP Update and run this utility. Last month, HP released an update that directly addresses this issue with the PhotoSmart series printers and computers using Vista. You should install any updates listed here, including the connectivity update.
I have had the mp600 for 3 years - worked fine on a couple of different pcs. I switched to a mac and encountered 2 issues - scanner stopped working and above problem of no black ink. The newest driver (just google mp600 driver) fixed the scanner issue. The ink issue has a work around - select non plain paper in the media quality tab, instead use any photo paper setting. Finding this area in a mac can be tricky - in the mini print options window you have to click the small chubby arrow and you will then be given a list of options including quality and media. Presto, black ink returns but probably uses more ink and takes longer to print. I have not found a more elegant solution as you have to select this non default paper option every time.
I was having the same problem and searched online and found the latest MP Navigator software at this website. After installing it, all you have to do is click scan on the computer, and it work like a charm.
