Same problem what did you guys do??? the speakers can play music but does not ring for text messages, calls, or alarms

The iPhone, along with many other phones, has two speakers. The first is the on ear speaker and the second is the speaker at the bottom for playing music and ringtones. The speaker at the bottom could be broken so to check this, just try and use your headphones to play music. If that doesn't work either then it must be a setting on the phone so in that case just have a bit of a play with the sound settings.

The loudspeaker is what the ringer uses as does the music, the inner speaker is used for hearing calls. Sounds like your inner speaker is faulty, check with where you bought it and it may be free to repair if its still under warranty (usually 12 months from date of purchase)

It happened to me the other day... My phone worked for a call, then I took a nap with my headphones plugged into the phone. Then, I bleive what happened was I pulled the headphones out without turning the music off. Then my phone had the same problem. Also, my music would not play without headphones.

I tried to goto Verizon today and they gave me the runaround. Then tonight, I had the phone plugged into a soundboard at my bar to play music and I pulled the cord without turning the music off and it started playing out of the phone as normal. Then I tried calling my friend and it worked. The text problem went away too.

The problem is from your RINGER/SPEAKER,

The ringer/speaker is what brings out sound from your mobile phone when you are called,you receive a text message or you are playing music.

The ringer of your phone is faulty and you need to get a repairer to replace it for you to solve this problem

there are 2 speakers, 1 for ring tone, 1 for music, ring tone speaker is fragile easily broken if phone is dropped, have to replace the 2 as 1 unit

its tha connection from your head set to ur fone move it around till u hear it beep in ur head set then it shud play in ur head set hope dis helps

Water damage is deadly. Your speaker is different from your earpiece speaker and that is the reason behind why you are able to hear your device ring as well as incoming txt messages. Since your device has been in contact with water-damage, more than likely the ear-piece suffered from that effect. There is no fix to water-damage devices, except replacing the phone as a whole. it sounds like you have damaged the loud speaker which wouldnt be that much to buy on ebay!
