SOURCE: don't know the pin to set up my bluetooth

I just figured this out after having my blueset linked with my old phone. I couldn't remember my password for the life of me to connect it with my new phone. Finally I turned on my bluetooth headset and then held the call button for about ten seconds. After that I proceeded to search on my phone for the bluetooth and link it. The password is 0000. I hope that helps!

GARMIN C550

Hi Don,

You probably just need to find the reciept where you bought the C550.  Sounds like Garmin is protecting its customers when they say $300.  This is most unfortunate thing to happen to you.  Is the Garmin $300 issue as I thought and related to you not having the registration code or Reciept?

Just bought a Garmin GPS. Where do I find the PIN number to use it for the first time?

If it is asking for a PIN number, then the unit has been secured by the previous owner. If you bought it new, take it back to the store for a new unit. If you bought it used, you cannot change the PIN number. Only Garmin can unlock it and you will need an original receipt from a licensed Garmin dealer to unlock it and they will probably charge you for this service. This is a security feature so that the unit cannot be used if it is stolen.

I recently purchased a gps that i was told was new, however, they did not send the pin and I am unable to unlock the device. Is there a master pin? Thank you

If there was a pin in it then it was not new. You have 2 options.
  1. You could bring it back to where you bought it and ask for your money back or a satnav without a pin.
  2. Your other option is to send it to Garmin with proof of ownership, e.g. a receipt, and get them to unlock it.
I'd choose the first. If you decide to send it to garmin you can get their contact details at http://www.garmin.com/garmin/cms/site/us/support/supportcontact

Sorry, no free maps. I know I've tried. You either live with the old map or buy the latest version.
I bought the life time maps updates and I'm glad I did.
I've updated my maps at least 6 times.
New maps are about $70.
Life time maps are about $99 (when I bought mine)
BUT FIRST make SURE you have the latest software in YOUR computer and in YOUR Garmin before you load any maps.
You can get that FREE at Garmin here:

Normal 0 false false false MicrosoftInternetExplorer4 To download the latest unit software visit Garmin website: www.garmin.com/webupdater
After installing WebUpdater once from the Garmin website, perform all future software updates from your computer. Simply connect your compatible Garmin device to your computer, then run WebUpdater from your computer's "Start Menu" by selecting "Start", "Programs", "Garmin", and finally "WebUpdater"
REMEMBER: It takes hours to do a complete a map update.
Unless you bought the Lifetime maps you may have to pay for current maps.

Does this help? Let us know. Thanks.

I think I did something wrong, it gave me a new password, then ask me to create a new password, how can I create a new pass word when the system only know the old pass word

The Garmin NEVER "creates" a PIN. You can choose a PIN and you can choose to change the PIN. If you have entered a PIN that you do not remember, you can take the unit to the location at which the PIN was set. Your only other option is to return the unit to Garmin.

GPS C550 ASKING FOR pin after 4 months used

Your only options for unlocking a PIN locked Garmin are:

1 - Enter the correct PIN.
2 - Take the unit to the location at which the PIN was originally entered.
3 - Send the unit back to Garmin. If it IS stolen (if you bought it off craigslist.com, how do you know for sure it isn't?) it will be returned to the original owner and you will be out the money you spent. There is NO workaround this SECURITY feature.

Garmin nuvi 300 asking for pin number

Unfortunately, even if you perform master reset on Garmin GPS unit, it does not reset Garmin Lock security feature, which password-protect most Garmin electronic devices to deter theft. If you forget the PIN or password unlock code to unlock the Garmin unit, the best solution is to bring it to Garmin to get unlocked. “Secure Location” does not unlock a locked Garmin unit either as it’s only a temporary fix as when it’s turn on outside the security location, the device is locked again."

So unfortunately, there is only one option: You have to send your nüvi into the Garmin, who can unlock it. Remember original receipt.
