SOURCE: Insignia NS-32LCD Backlight or Inverter bad???
If you've done the flash light test, it could be the inverter board became defective but it could also be that the power supply does not provide the +24VDC to the back light inverter board.
If you could do the +24VDC test using a voltmeter then we can say for sure that the back light inverter board is defective.
Let me know if you need further assistance.

SOURCE: part number for the samsung le52m87bd backlight inverter
Hey!
I also have a SAMSUNG LE52M87 LCD TV and I have the same
ANOYING BUZZ comming from ( I think ) backlight converter. - I am
almost 100% that its because of the backlight inverter while the sound shifts frequency when backlight is changed ( from 1 - 10 ), but the volume of the buzz stays the same. Only the tone changes. I have this TV for a year now and havent realy noticed until now, so I think it started buzzing recently, because I didnt hear it before ( and I got realy sensitive hearing :) ) ...
ITS DRIVING ME CRAZY ...
PLEASE post what happened when ( if ) you changed the inverter,
or what did you do to solve the problem ...
Many thanks in advance!

Your main board is faulty. I've done several of these but haven't been able to figure out which component is actually bad these yet. I've simply had to replace the board itself, and it fixes it every time. One thing you can do to get your backlights to come on (and so you know I'm not Jive'n you) Is unplug the three wire bundle that spans from power supply to main board. This will usually make the backlights fire up. I even had one that after I left it that way for a minute (with the backlight on) it suddenly started working again! But this was short lived. :-(
One time I even tried recapping the entire main to see it that would fix it. It did not. I think it might be something to do with the small chip labeled SL37HA37. It's a 16 legged bastard near the 3-wire plug I told you to pull. It's that or possibly the bigger IC near it that has a heat sink on it. The ball grid array solder joints may be faulty. Just guesses, if any smart guys out there figure this one out, be sure to tell the rest of us please!
Thanks, Chris

I suspect that your supply has gone bad. You will need to find the service manual for voltage measurements. If you want to get replacement boards many can be found on ebay or you can check www.shopjimmy.com they stock boards for many units and I have had no problems.
