I’ve a Laars Lite 2 model LG125-E that has abpilot generator. When power is supplied to the heater by the timer it immediately trips the power supply so something has shorted. This seems to be the pilot generator - when it’s disconnected there’s no short (heater doesn’t fire up and doesn’t seem to try) but disconnect any other component and it still trips (heater also doesn’t seem to try to fire up). I’ve checkes the mVDC from the pilot generator and thats 550mV when not under load. I can’t test under load as it trips too fast. I replaced the pilot generator with another used one (from a donor heater I have) and it has the same issue. I’ve also tried replacing the gas valve from the same donor. The PP terminal on the gas valve is earthed to the valve case. Is this likely to be an issue with the pilot generator, the gas valve (tried two of each remember) or something else?

You may have a faulty door switch. 1 of 3 switches is a direct short switch which protects the user from an open door scenario.You could also have a shorted H.V. capacitor. Use caution as a severe shock injury could occur.
