You have a leaking solenoid. It is failing to shut off. You'll need to shut off the water, unplug the washer, and disconnect both hoses (make sure that you mark the cold side at the washer, if it doesn't already have a mark). The blur plastic item that you hose screws on to at the washer is the solenoid valve. All it is is an electrically controlled valve that is either open or closed. Rewmove the back of the washer to gain aces to the solenoid valve. Take this part with you to any appliance parts supply house, and they can provide an exact replacement. Reassembly is the reverse of removal.
This isn't a difficult job. You can do it!

Check the air pressure tube coming from the tub to the water level switch. It could be pinched, stopped up, or a hole in it. Check the water level switch. If tube and switch are good, replace the water valve.

Kenmore 70 series washer

If you can see a constant water pressure from the hot and cold, chances are the water solenoid valves are ok.

I would look towards resetting to factory and checking the main control unit.

Water for intial fill works fine . when it goes to rinse cycle the water just dribbles in making wash time go on for ever ! whats the solution?

when you start the washer set it just on cold and see if it fills slowly, when the washer goes to rinse it just uses cold water, you could have a problem with the washer or in the house, when you run it on just cold and if it dribbles in,stop it shut down the water going to the washer, remove the cold water hose from the back of the washer, stick it in the sink or inside the washer and turn it on,if it comes out strong then you have a bad water valve on the washer,if it comes out slowly you have a bad water valve in the house and it's not the washer.hope this helps

Washer wont fill up during rinse cycle

all rinse cycles are filled with cold water to keep the clothes from wrinkling.set up the washer to run with just cold water.start it,if no water comes into washer, shut down your house water valve that fills the washer, take off the cold water hose, stick it in the washer or if there's a sink or where ever and turn on the water,if water comes out of the hose then you need a new water valve on the washer

Washing machine wont fill with water when switched on

Fillingwith water:
The waterfill valve - The water fill valve is a mechanical and electrical part, the coils on the valve need electricity to mechanically open the valve to allowthe water to flow into the washer....myth....the washer pumps water into itself...no, itdoes not. The fill valve opens and the house water pressure pushes the waterinto the washing machine.
No cold wateror no hot water - The fill valve has two coils, one for the hot water and onefor the cold water. It is possible that one of the coils can fail and you loosethat filling ability. If the cold water coil quits, the hot will still work andduring warm fill you will get hot water only and during a cold fill you willget no water at all. If the hot coils quits, you will still have cold waterfill, cold water only on a warm setting and no water on a hot fill setting. You can testa fill valve live for 120volts, power to a fill valve coil and no fill = a bad fill valve. You can also testthe coils for continuity, nocontinuity = a bad fill valve. Some Maytag washers have a fuse in the fillvalve circuit, if this fuse let go the washer will not fill. Fill valves canalso from time to time stick open and not stop filling. If you have to shut offthe fill valves to stop the water fromfilling in the washer, you have a bad fill valve and you will have to replaceit.
Water level controls - The water levelcontrol is also know as apressure switch, this is where you set the water level ( small - medium - large). The water level control is responsible to shut off the power to the fillvalve and direct that power to the timer so the washing machine can start up.The WLC has electrical contacts in it that sends power to the fill valve and whenthe WLC is satisfied the water level is correct the electrical contacts openpower to the fill valve and send the power to the timer and the washer starts.Picture of this here. How the water level control knows when it istime to shut the water off is, a air tight hose runs from the outer washer tank to the waterlevel control. As the water fills the outer tank air is pushed up the hose, depending on which setting you have made ( small- medium - large ) is takes acertain amount of this pressure to make the WLC cycle over and shut off the waterand send this power to the timer. If this hose develops a leak or a pin holethe washer can over fill as the WLC may not be able to shut the water off. Thewater level control can also break down and allow the washer to over fill aswell.

Drum is filling with water after each wash

There is only 2 possibilities for the drum to fill with water after it has finished.
Firstly, if the empty pipe is connected to the sink outlet pipe, the water can syphon back into the washer if the pipe is too low, thereby slowly filling the washer when not in use.
Solution is to lift the outlet pipe higher.than the bottom of the sink.
The other reason is the inlet valve is not shutting off properly.
To prove if this is the case, turn the water off at the valve, if it is hot and cold fill, then turn the hot off only, and wait and see if water comes in over a period of time, if it does not then you need to replace the hot valve.
If water stills comes in with hot turned off, then you need to replace the cold valve.
If cold fill only , turn off cold and wait to see if any water comes in, if it does not, then replace cold valve.
Plz rate my solution.
Thanks.

Washer will not fill with cold water during cycle

it sounds like your mixture valve is faulty on the cold water side. that is the valve where you screw the hose ends on. it needs to be replaced you can purchase one at your local sears, be sure to take your make and model number with you

Washer Pauses and Shuts down Repeatedly

Check the cold water line into the unit. Remove the hose from the washer and clean the screen. flush the line while it is disconnected into a bucket or small garbage can. Your washer wont advance without a fill and most fills/rinses are with cold water
