Call Daisy Customer Service. they have the numbers of a few gunsmiths which handle all discontinued models. They are your best bet for replacement parts

The Daisy model 99 Champion was produced in 1967 only. This 46 year old target special model features an adjustable windage and elevation rear peep sight with a hooded front sight and gravity feed magazine. The gun is sighted in at 25 feet and has a lot of power. Price is almost $110 to $140.

Or you could try contacting Daisy and see if they retain any information about any modification (but they are unlikely to have any parts for it, now.) The problem was that the earlier design of the 856 and 880 allowed a pellet to be lodged in the mechanism, unknown to the shooter. This could result in inaccuracy during firing. The 856 was modified to single shot rather than magazine by 2001 at which time Daisy was not found culpable in several deaths (resulting from direct firing at a party). I retrieved the findings using the Wayback Machine at the Internet Archive. The US Government site has removed the findings for some reason.
