You need to use a defuser or you will get that. The LED light pattern is too specific. You may be able to use some hot glue as a make-shift defuser.

SOURCE: Permanent Vertical Line on my Sony Bravia 46 inch LCD TV

What you're describing is usually the result of an improperly seated connector. With the power disconnected, open the tv and locate any connectors between the LCD screen and the driver circuit board. Unplug them, and reconnect it assuring it's properly and firmly seated. Be careful when handling these cables as they tend to be quite fragile... take your time.

Whire vertical band , 3 inches wide with red kine in the middle

If your LCD TV or monitor has stopped working, or is displaying one of the following symptoms, then it's a candidate for some new capacitors
- Flickering screen
- Screen image disappears after several seconds
- Dim screen
- Slow start
- Power LED on, but no picture
- Unusual colors and/or lines
The primary cause of LCD TV and monitor failure is caused by faulty capacitors. You can examine the capacitors in your LCD TV or monitor and actually see if they are bad.
If they appear bulged on top, then they need to be replaced.
New capacitors will solve a host of problems in LCD monitors and TV's and will extend the life of your monitor or TV by several years.

Check the cables, connectors and connections.

Take it to a repair shop.

Yes, but the cost is not worth it. If you get it apart you will no doubt find a couple of bulging capacitors. Dell site has the disassembly instructions.

Vertical lines approx 2"wide appear on screen and remain after re

Your lcd is going out. Either that or your video card.

You can verify this by hooking up an external monitor to your laptop. If you see lines or distortion on the external it's the video card ( GPU ).

If you don't, it's probably the lcd.

90% of the time it's the lcd.

Easiest and cheapest way to fix it is to purchase an lcd from ebay and then just swap them.

Let me know if you need any more help.

Best of luck!
