Ryobi 18v cordless reciprocating saw model P516 blade clamp lever won't open

There is no blade in the saw. I have used this only once, last year. When I tried to open the lever today to insert a blade, the lever only partially opens and won't clamp a blade

My brand new Ryobi Reciprocating Saw blade clamp will not open enough to insert a blade. Rick

You are probably trying to use old-style blades in a new saw. Go back to the store where you bought the saw and ask for the correct blades.

Ryobi will not start

The saw you're asking about is battery powered, not gas. If this is the actual model you have, I don't know where you could even put the gas. Have you charged the battery?

Replacing blade assembly on a dewalt 18v Reciprocating Saw Sawzall

Remove the foot, remove the boot (and yellow lever), pull shaft out all the way (so you have more room to work with), remove the spring clip from the clamp block, remove the lever and ball, the clamp block will then slide off once the wire clip that wraps around it is removed.

How do i change blade on dewalt dw303 reciprocating saw

Open the yellow tab on the side of the blade guard and lift the blade out. Install a new on and close the tab. If the blade has been damaged, it may need to be pried off the locating pin at the attachment point.

Installing the blade

There will be a small lever on the side, up front, where the blade goes. You should be able to lift the handle up and slide the blade into the slot at the head of the saw. Once you lower the lever, it will lock into place. Make sure you also have the right saw blades as some do not fit right. Hope this helps.

Blade falls out.

the lever for the lock has a indentation in it to lock the blade in place (at 90 or 180 degrees try both) make sure it drops into same in blade. not all brand blades will fit even with the word universal! good luck
