SOURCE: The pilot light on the water heater went out and the red light is blinking four times on the thermostat (Honeywell WV8860B1317). How do I get this to stop so that the pilot light can be relit?

The flashing light 4 times indicates high water temperature has activated the over heat sensor, and that the only remedy is to replace the gas control valve/thermostat.

Red light flashing on my hot water tank control

1 flash every 3 seconds means the pilot is lit and the gas valve is working normally. A solid red status light means the water heater is shutting down. Turn the gas control valve OFF and wait 10 minutes before attempting to relight the pilot

When i turn on oven all i smell is gas i cleaned with a wire brush still nothing. also is the pilot light always have to be on and can you see it when oven is off

Most gas ovens that aren't electronic ignition usually have a pilot light.
Usually one in the oven area and one for each burner. (Sometimes shared between two burners.)
These pilot lights must lit at all times...otherwise it won't light up and you'll smell gas.
Usually the pilot light is in the very back of the oven and can be seen with the broiler drawer opened.

There is a small set screw located at the pilot light assembly in the oven and also at every burner.
This allows you to adjust pilot light up or down, thereby letting you set pilot light flame to a level that doesn't get blown out by a draft...or you can turn it off completely.

If you use that set screw to turn off the pilot light gas, you'd need to strike a match to light the oven or burners everytime you needed them.

My pool heater doesn't come on. The pilot is lit, and the valve to the ON position. I turn the front knub to heat but when I turn the switch on the front panel to ON it doesn't fire on (...

If your pilot light is lit, then you do have some gas flow, so it is probably the thermocoupler (the part heated by the pilot light) that is not telling the gas valve to open the main line. Sometimes it is just a case of residue on the thermocoupler that is not letting it get up to temperature and sometimes it has been knocked out of alignment and the pilot light is not putting direct heat on it.

A cleaning with steel wool (don't overdo it) would take care of the residue, and you can GENTLY move the thermocoupler back over the pilot flame. If neither of that helps then replace the thermocoupler.

Our 17year old GE gas oven/broiler stopped lighting today. What might be the problem? Stove burners work.

Most likely culprit is the igniter.
When you turn the oven on it opens a gas valve allowing a small amount of gas to flow thru the pilot light. The igniter then lights the pilot and when the sensor determines the pilot is lit it opens th emain gas valve and the oven lights. If the igniter fails and doesn't light the pilot the sensor doesn't heat up and it shuts down the pilot and nothing works.
The igniter is usually accessable under the oven by removing the drawer. It has a single wire attached and looks like a short cigarette made of ceramic witha metal tip.
You didn't provide model number so I can't give you part number but if you look it up here you may be able to get one from Sears

I have a 2004 honda pilot. when i turn on the car, the brake light and the ABS light come on for a few seconds longer than the lights on the dashboard typically do.

If they go off then do not worry, the abs system has several things to check before it can give a systems good status(no light on).If the light is not on all the time you should be fine.It comes on when engine is cranked to let you know it is running a diagnostic. If the system finds a fault it will turn the light on.

Pilot lights, but when the button is released it goes out main burner will not light

Button must be held down for about a minute after lighting pilot, if it still doesn`t stay light sounds like the thermocouple is bad. Looks like a skinny copper wire runs from the pilot light valve to pilot light flame, can be purchased at any hardware store for $5 or $10.

Pilot lights but main burner dose not light when turned on

possibly a fowled thermocouple if the thermocouple doesn's sense the pilot flame then it will not send a signal to the gas valve telling it that its okay to open cause the pilot is lit.

Williams debonair wall heater + pilot light problems

THE flame from the pilot should shoot past the thermo-couple and heat this up and make a small amount of mili- amps to prove the pilot light is lit. ..So if the flame doesn,t go past the thermo-couple it won, make mili-amps or its tme to change out the thermo-couple, They only cost lest than $8:00 and you can change it!
