Question about Epson TM-U220 Matrix Printer
I have installed the Epson TM-U220 Matrix Printer for use with a POS system running on WinXPP. Using the Prallel Printer Cable, I am able to establish communication with the printer on LPT1. I have even printed text data in a DOS environment and in WinXPP when I use the Generic Printer Driver. However, the Epson TM-U220 printer driver I downloaded from the net does not work - it shows "printer not available". When I send a print job, it remains in the queue but does not print. What do I do?
possible issue is port configuration. if the generic text driver works, apd driver should work too.
what may be happen is that when you install the apd driver the other printer drivers that you have were still using the same port that your apd driver were using. example, you have generic txt assigned to lpt1 and then the apd were assigned on the same port, this is were you get the trouble.
what you must do is, first, check any printer driver that you have using the lpt, say for example, you generic text is using lpt1, when you install the apd driver set it to lpt2. apd drivers will create a new port normally called esdprt. try to use that port but if that will not work reassigned the port of your apd driver to lpt2 printer port then uncheck bi-directional support. from there you should be able to print..
hope that resolves your issue.. =)

Have you tried to print directly to the printer without spooling the print documents ? Try, on the Advanced tab for the Printer Properties, to select "Print directly to the printer" instead of "Spool..."

I have finally managed to print by downloading another driver meant for TM-U200. Obviously there must have been a problem of compatibility on the P3 PC and the TM-U220 printer. On the newer PCs (P4), the appropriate driver works fine.
