Epson R1800 Printer turns OFF

Every time I want to print a document or even perform any maintenance printing the R1800 simmply turns off. No flashing errors pop-up.

What could this be? Is there any way to Reset the EEPROM?

Thanks

There is no adapter per say... it connects directly to a socket on the wall.

It's not a Power issue since the Printer turns on properly and those its routing check up without a problem. Both my Mac and PC recognizes the printer and properly show Ink Cartridge levels.

When it is going to start printing it shuts off. No printing occurs.

    Also Feed Tray doesn't move.

The printer is connected directly to the wall socket and it works fine. It turns on and performs its routing power up, with out any problems.

It's only when I try to print that the printer turns off for no apparent reason.

I downloaded the Epson Adjustment Program and noticed that there is a Fatal Error 61 (PW Sensor Error). So I opted to open my printer and there was ink all over! After cleaning what I could and cleaning the PW Sensor (Thanks to InkRepublic.com for the Tutorial) I restarted the printer. It still doesn't work!

I just got the service manual and I'll see if I can access the Circuit Board to see if there's ink in it. Hopefully there is, so I can clean it and fix my Printer!

I wouldn't have thought of short circuit problem, thanks once again Yboyandrei!

    New UPDATE - Aug 23

Its hard to find an Epson repair store were I live. So I kept tinkering with the printer.

I started disconnecting cables in order to see if the error stopped. After I disconnected the CN12 cable and started the printer... it started to WORK!

Once I placed it back again... the error occurred. Figuring its either a bad FFC cable or a misplaced one, I opted to remove them all from the Main Board. I followed the natural bendings of the FFC cables. I reconnected them as I thought they should go.

Would you believe the Error has STOPPED!

Now... for the sad part! I can send the printer to print whatever I want... but nothing prints! It moves as if it where printing but no ink is ejected!

Print heads are cleaned cause I already went through a set of cartridges cleaning them out.

Maybe an inverted cable to the head?

Here is my solution to your problem.
Power Failure is not reason here. I think you Epson have a problem inside the circuit board.
It has two output, the PRIMARY & SECONDARY Output, one of this are not function due to power or wattage failure.
I did encounter such problem but I open my printer and I see inside its nothing but the PCB Board have leak of one of my capacitor inside.
If this case is still comes out then better to check that with EPSON PRINTER Technician.
And about resetting EEPROM it useless.
At least this information give you such ideas why you have this kind of problem. Resolving such problem are not only on talk but let our hands do it also.
I tell you one way or another, careful of that maybe it has a short circuit. Good luck!

your problem is not with the inks it is with the printhead... try running the maintenance and head cleaning... epson is notorious for print heads getting clogged!! good luck

MacBook Pro Epson Print Driver Dilemma

your problem is about profiles. The gutenprint is the only way to print from intel to r1800, but this driver don't use the same ICC profiles. You have to use one of three solutions below:
1 the best, you have a profile calibrating device, you make a profile of your couple ink-paper and you convert your document into this ICC profile.
2 you convert your picture into your software in one of the Epson generic profiles (hey probably still are on your computer) and you print whithout color managment
3 (awful) you anticipate the color distorsion and you tune your picture to be bad on the screen but pretty good on paper.

Paper and ink lights blinking - no power light flashing at all - can't do anything on our Epson R1800 printer... can you suggest something to try? have been doing a lot of head cleaning due to bad nozzle...

Try doing a printer check by doing the steps below. If it doesnt work, then try to call the printer manufacturer for more advanced solutions or information

  1. turn off the printer and disconnect it from computer
  2. place a plain sheet of paper
  3. press and hold down the paper feed button, then press and release the power button. Continue holding down the paper button until you see the power light flashes
  4. if it prints a test page it is working fine, the problem might be the computer settings, printer settings, software or printer application, or cables, otherwise the problem is the printer itself

Image and text printed multiple times and are overlapping

Is the R1800 the only printer that you have on ythis mac?

If it is make sure it is directly connected to your mac via a USB or Firewire cable.

Trash epson folder from Mac HD-Library- Printers
Delete Epson printer utility from Mac HD- Application folder( if you have both delete both icon.

Under prnter setup utility delete the r1800 printer

Go to finder click on file the find, type com.apple.print, if it find anything drag it all on the trash, it will not disappear from the window ( the prefs and . cache files)

download the latest driver for your r1800 from epson website
epson12113.dmg - 10.3MB - posted on 12/20/

then reinstall it, after reinstalling try to readd th printer and make sure under print using it will say Epson SPR1800 series. If you see guten print/ that is a third party driver. dont use the gutenprint. then try to print, update me for the outcome
