Vertical red lines apear on Sony XBR after Roku install

After I installed the Roku digital video player from Netflix, vertical red lines appeared on my Sony XBR TV. I disconnected the Roku device but the lines remained on all the TV channel except for the HD stations. Yesterday, I upgraded my cable service to include more channels, and now, the lines appearing on all channels HD included. When the Cable is being booted, the picture is perfectly clear for several seconds. No one believes me, but I know that before I installed that Roku, the picture on my TV was perfect.

    Dear fixitPhil,
I've re-botted the cable box several times, if that's what you mean, to no avail. I don't know what "refit your scarf lead to your bod & t.v." means.
pcisarano@verizon is me. Tried your yahoo but no cigar!

Here's the thing. I don't know what the terms "refit" or "scart" mean. I unplugged the TV from the wall, but that didn't make a difference.
I tried rebotting the cable box again. I looked for a reset button, and not finding any other button, I held the power button down for much longer than usual, and rebotted using the power source.
I'm a real amateur, forgive me for these simple questionsp.
Is it [email protected]? [email protected], [email protected].
I've tried many combinations, but they all bounce back!
    I'm [email protected]

Try re-botting your HDbox, also refit your scart lead to your box & t.v.
If you drop me an e-mail I will go through how to re-bot your box,if you don't know - re-botting your box helps pull in all the new software for your box - think it like a pc needing to update the programmes.
e-mail [email protected].

    how do

ment by re-fit scart is = plug out scart and plug it back in/ even as I
think of it you are more than likely working on a hdmi cable so re-fit
this move to another hdmi piont if you can see how this works

If you dont have a scrat lead attached, try fitting one - it may sort the problem out.

Also when you say you have re-booted the box do you hold the backup button when your doing this.?.

to the reasson to why you could not e-mail me - I do not know - I have checked to see if I wrote address corret & it is - please try again at a time that suits .......thank you for your vote phil

Right we'll start from scrach- [email protected] is an e-mail address sent via your e-mail address- but you know this right - however I appear to be having the same problem with your address~ but let us not get caught up with that problem, anough to be worrying about~

    Now regarding your system :
Q1. what type of hd box do you have include channel surpplier if there is one?
Q2. how is this box connected to your tv.?
Q3. How long have you had this box

answer asap & we could have this sorted before I go and do the dread paper work, please give me a reason not to.
    phil.

How to fix red vertical lines on my Sony Grand Vega KDS-R70 XBR

Those lines are called vertical retrace lines. There are many reasons for it. In most cases, the CRT base card board solder points should be checked for cracked or dry soldering. If you wish to get some details; check the sites linked here.

Sony bravia xbr has red vertical lines going through it

Try changing the input device to something you are sure, works such as a DVD player. Switch off TV manually, switch off power, remove plug and retry after 48 hours. If problem persists, please refer it to a qualified service technician.

Sony Bravia 46Z4100 has a thin vertical red line on the screen

I assume that when you get the line you lose the picture, if so, you have vertical collapse, either a dry joint in the vertical section or capacitors or vertical I.C., I would doubt that the scan coil would be O/C as that is rare. if you can't do it yourself I suggest taking it to a repairer, as it should be an easy fix...Hope that helps...Phil

A horizontal or vertical red line appears on picture.

Red lines are caused by glare. Avoid photographing shiny surfaces that reflect excessive amounts of light into your lens.
