Remote trunk release stopped working.

The remote trunk release (from the driver side floor) on my 2001 Saturn SL1 stopped working a few days ago.

For a while, the trunk release from the key chain transmitter was iffy - it took a few button presses to open the trunk, and I think it completely stopped a few weeks ago. I can't get it to work at all now.

Are these related? How can I fix the internal trunk release?

See if there is power at the solenoid with the button pushed inside the car. if so change the lock solenoid. best of luck

Trunk latch
Check in the glove box for a push button to open trunk. Also along the driver's side floor sill (between the seat and the door). Along the bottom of the dash on driver's side, check there too. My son has a '92 Lesabre, and there is no trunk release-only the key opens the trunk.

My 2003 Saturn Ion remote trunk release won't
Check to make sure the button on the trunk latch is turned from manual unlock...they made that feature so only the key will work to open the trunk that way if someone breaks in the front of your car they can't hit the trunk release and get into the trunk...may be the same thing for your remote. Hope that helps.

there is a manual switch that is located near the trunk latch for a safty lockout it might have been switched by accident look to make sure.hope this helps.

2003 saturn ion-release does not work for trunk release
If only the trunk release is not working, did you check to see if the little lever arm switch on the trunk lid at the latch assembly is switched to enable the release? Mine came switched to the 'Off' position when I bought it and it took me a few days to figure that one out.
