Have you updated all of the necessary drivers? Yes your computer may recognize the device in the device manager, but without the proper drivers it won't allow the computer to communicate with that particular device.

External acer dvd rw drivers required

Hi

if you are connecting a external dvd writer assumably via usb i dont think you need drivers as
windows should normally find and load the dvd writer when connected to the usb

if this is the case
please try at least 2 different usb sockets

leave the writer in the usb and do a restart
if windows still do not reconise the writer
please go to device manager
go up to the top to the tabs
and hover your mouse over them until you find the one that says
scan for new hardware
then click the scan for new hardware
windows may or may not at this stage reconize the writer
then leaving it pluged in do another restart
and hopefully windows should now reconize the writer

hope this has helped you
many thanks

Drive won,t play discs and sometime won,t reconize that a disc is

If the "bad" disks work fine in some other DVD-player, then it's time to spend $40 and buy a new DVD-writer.

Or, if your current DVD-player is under the manufacturer's warranty, exercise the warranty, to get it repaired/replaced.

Hi Can anybody help me to get my computer to reconize my new hardrive. I need to format it first as its not been used before. Do I have to go into bios first? if so how do I set the bios up to reconize my...

In the days of AMD Athlon chips we didn't have SATA, but it sounds like you do, and you have hooked the drive up?

1) Make sure the BIOS has SATA enabled as well as IDE
2) Make sure your device manager has a driver for your motherboards SATA controller
3) Open computer management
4) Choose Disk management
5) Initialise disk
6) Create partition.
7) Format as per normal.

New dvd writer recognised as old

Hello.

Go to Control Panel.

Locate System.

Locate your Device Manager.

Under your DVD/CD Rom devices, locate the old DVD writer. Select it. Right click and hit Uninstall.

Now scan your computer for new hardware, and install the new DVD writer with the discs it comes with, if any.

Will not give x85 as option and won't reconize intall disk.

What Operating system? And you shouldn't really need the disk. The needed drivers should be in support on the manufacturer's website. Find and download the files. Unzip the files so they can be installed.(they should self-extract to a new folder) And to install the driver(s) through Device Manager, select that folder instead of the D:/ E:/ or whatever your CD drive is.

Dvd writer

You need to first click on my computer. In the folder section right click on my computer. Left click on properties, then device mangager, then hardware. From the list click on your dvd writer to see if it's working properly or if your computer even reconizes it. It may also be disabled. If it's disabled enable it. You will also need to update the driver or reinstall it. If none of that works, you need a new dvd writer.
