SOURCE: kewood kdc-5018 cd player forgot the code please

No one can help except the manufacturer, I am amazed as to how many people "lost the code". You need to send it to Kenwood to ghet it unlocked or get ahold of the real owner before you to get the code. Every unit has a different code as they are set BY THE USER!

How to install a Kenwood kdc 138 in a 1992 Ford Escort LX?

if its anything like my 92 ranger you take the dash apart around the radio and the stereo should unscrew, in my ranger the new cd player went in without any extra harness as it was the same size as the stock, if not you can but harnesses to go where your old stereo did, to connect the speakers you can buy a ford wiring harness from walmart or any store with an audio department. these plug in to your vehicles wiring harness so you don't have to cut it out, after that you simply match colours from the wires of the new cd player to the wiring harness

Kenwood KDC-138 Standby Question

Standby mode does not completely power down the unit it jsut does not draw as much power as when the unit is on. Also, depending on the unit, it might start back up faster in standby then from power off. You can select to have certain things displayed while in standby mode. Here is what can be selected for this unit:
Standby: displays CD loaded indicator, "STBY" indicator, and clock (when selected)
Hope this was helpful.

Kenwood KDC-138 Operation Problem

Here's the quote from the manual regarding "dcer": "The speaker wire has a short-circuit or touches the chassis of the vehicle and then the protection function is activated. Wire or insulate the speaker cable properly and press the reset button. If the "PROTECT/DCER" code does not disappear, consult your nearest service center "

I believe the manual can be downloaded from crutchfield .com after you go to the Kenwood KDC-138 page on their website. The reset button is either on the lower left of the face or, removing the face, on the lower left of the body. Hope this helps you.
