Hi,

If your iPod is frozen or won't turn on, the steps to reset it vary by model.

  1. Toggle the Hold switch. To do this, slide the switch to Hold (an orange bar appears) and then slide it back (orange bar is hidden).
  2. Reset the iPod by holding down the Menu and Center buttons for 10 seconds.
    • If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect the iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If the iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    • If the Apple logo does not appear or the iPod is not seen in iTunes, connect the iPod to a power source by either plugging it into an Apple iPod USB Power Adapter or directly into a computer's USB port.
  3. Let the iPod charge for at least 20 minutes. Note: If the iPod is connected to a computer, make sure the computer does not sleep, standby, or hibernate during the 20-minute charging period.
  4. After the iPod has charged for at least 20 minutes and while it is still connected to the power source, toggle the Hold switch again as in step 1.
  5. Try resetting the iPod by holding down the Menu and Center buttons for 10 seconds.
    • If the Apple logo appears on the display, connect the iPod to a computer and verify that it appears in iTunes and can play music. If the iPod appears in iTunes and can play music, no further troubleshooting is needed.
    • If the Apple logo does not appear or the iPod is not seen in iTunes, try putting the iPod into disk mode and restoring.
  6. Try putting the iPod into disk mode.
    • While in disk mode, connect the iPod to iTunes and try to restore.
    • If the iPod is still not recognized by iTunes, the iPod should be serviced.
    Hope i helped you.
Thanks.

Have you tried resetting your ipod?

To reset an ipod:

1. Turn on the "Hold" switch. Wait a second. Turn off the "Hold" switch.
2. At the same time press and hold both the "Home" and "Play" buttons. The middle button and the bottom button. Hold both of these for about 10 seconds.

The screen should go blank and then the iPod should restart. Hope this helps.

SOURCE: Ipod 4th gen nano is frozen on the language selection screen.

That could be one of two problems: Either the cord of the click wheel has been disconnected from its socket which will be an easy fix and you only have to pay labor, or you may just need a new click wheel which should still be cheap.

Ipod nano click wheel is frozen. followed all the standard steps on apple support site and still no good. stuck frozen on ''choose language'' and click wheel does not respond

First make sure the lock is not on. Second, I have read in a number of threads people have tried putting scotch tape over the wheel and it started working. I know it sounds crazy but it's worth a try. Otherwise I would say you have a hardware issue and should contact Apple if it is still under warranty.

Ipod not responding

You may be doing the reset wrong. Try doing this: Toggle the hold switch and put it back in the off position. Then press and hold the center button and the menu button simultaneously for ten seconds and the apple symbol should come up on the screen. Then it should work like normal. Hope this helps you!

Ipod nano 8GB 3rd generation FROZEN!

You need to reset your ipod. Flip the hold switch on then off, then press select button and menu button at same time. Hold for 10 seconds or so. Ipod should shut off and reboot to apple screen. If this doesn't work first time try again. This should solve any stuck screen problems. Mine was stuck on pioneer screen and this operation fixed it.

Do the 5 R's:

These are for Nano, but they apply to all iPods:

Reset, Retry, Restart, Reinstall, Restore

Remember these five basic suggestions if you have a problem with your iPod nano. If

one of the following doesn’t help, read on for solutions to specific problems.

â Reset your iPod nano. See “General Suggestions,” below.

â Retry with a different USB port if you cannot see iPod nano in iTunes.

â Restart your computer and make sure you have the latest software updates

installed.

â Reinstall iPod and iTunes software from the latest versions on the web.

â Restore your iPod nano. See “Updating and Restoring iPod Software” on page whatever.
