If you follow the water line then it should've been installed somewhere either under your sink or behind fridge cavity. If you can't find it maybe it wasn't installed. I tend to buy some off eBay in 5 packs. They tend to have the right specs for sale. Usually give them 6 months life each then they split. Its a cheap way to get good quality water. Good luck

SOURCE: Kenmore Side by Side Refrigerator Ice Maker Not Working

A couple things to check here. First see if there is ice in the tray. If so chances are the ice maker will need to be replaced however these are very reliable ice makers. If no ice in the tray pull up on the ejector blade (don't worry you won't break it) turn clockwise to start the ice maker thru a cycle. The ejector blade is the long white bar with fingers on it that run the length of the tray. Once it completes a cycle it should fill with water. If no water then either the fill tube is frozen over and will need to be defrosted or the water valve is bad.

check the mirco-switches behind the panel at the dispenser section. basically, when you depress the lever for water or ice, those levers make contact with a switch, and the switch turns on the ice dispenser motor. if the lever is pushed too hard, the switch can be knocked out of position. I had to re-position my ice switch with some duct tape.

SOURCE: Kenmore side by side refrigerator water dirty

You may need to replace the water reservoir located behind the crisper. They are known to flake and cause the problem you describe. They are usually replaced with a coil of water line instead of one larger reservoir to stop the problem.

I have a Kenmore side-by-side ultrafresh refrigerator model # 5255210, serial# SM0649567. I cannot find the water filter. Where is the water filter located on this refrigerator ?

Owning 1 of these refrigerators will require you to replace the water filter from time to time, in order to keep the water fresh and the refrigerator running efficiently. Kenmore refrigerators are made by Amana, Frigidaire, GE, LG, and Whirlpool, so it is important to find out which manufacturer made your Kenmore refrigerator, in order to make sure you order the right part. Kenmore refrigerators use filters that are located in the bottom, front panel of the refrigerator. Details can be found on WiKi how to change a water filter on a Kenmore Refrigerator.

Kenmore side by side dirty water

The original cap for the filter, was supposed to be a plug bypass, for application of outside undersink filter. Using, this, one can check to see if the filter was the contaminant here. You need to be, more specific, to explain a problem. Something is too too generasl,,, color, consistancy, odor, quantity, filter has a fine fine filtrationl unit on the outlet, and if defective the charcoal residue may come out. You can remove filer and pass suppy water thru and review the effluent coming out. ??? Regards, fmauka
