Are you sure your settings are correct? Is it a TI84 or a TI84+(Plus)?

  1. Press STAT

SOURCE: My TI-84 Plus gives answer as 2.145274703E14, what Is E?

E is the calculators form of scientific notation. so 2.145274703E14
is really 2.145274703 x 10^14 or 214527470300000

SOURCE: wrong trig ratio

Your calculator is set in radians. Press mode key. Arrow down to 3rd line. Highlight degree and press enter. Your calculator is now in degrees, not radians. To get out of the mode screen and back to home screen, press 2nd and then mode.

How to calculate standard deviation

Hi there,

My name is adieh. Hav a great day.

Here are the tips on how to calculate standard deviation using a graphic calculator:

1. Turn on your graphing calculator, go to the stats/editor screen and enter your data set into list1. Once this is done, return to your home page by hitting the home button.

2. Push the catalog button and scroll through the applications until you find "stdDev(". Place the arrow next to it and press enter.

3.Type the word "list1" into the open parenthesis. After you have put that in, close the parenthesis so you calculator doesn't show an error message.

4. Press the enter button. The calculator has done the calculations and you now have the standard deviation of your data set.

Note:
Using 1-var stats in the stats/editor screen will also give you the standard deviation. Using that function will also give you other information associated with your data set.

Hope it helps.

Thank you for using fixya.

2nd vars 2 (normalcdf( -999999,-.1923) Just trying to get area from z value -.0.1923 keep getting errors

The normalcdf function takes three arguments: the z value, the mean, and the standard deviation. In the "standard" case the mean is 0 and the standard deviation is 1. Thus, try calculating
normalcdf(-.1923, 0, 1) .

How do I compute population standard deviation on the TI 84 plus?

Put the data into a list using whatever scheme you prefer. Press STAT right-arrow to bring up the STAT CALC menu. Select "1-Var Stats" and specify the list containing the data. You'll get a screen showing the various statistical values. The population standard deviation is designated by a lowercase sigma.

I'm using the t and z test on my TI-84 Plus graphing calculator. When I go to enter data it will only let me enter in the standard deviation and mean but then it gives me an error message that states ERR:...

You do not have enough memory free. You will need to clear RAM and possibly delete programs to free up space.

Pressing [2nd][+] will take you to the memory management functions. From this menus you can delete from Programs, Applications and can also reset your RAM. Doing any of these should help free up enough memory.

Find the standard deviation of the following data set 5,5,5,5

The standard deviation is a measure on the variability of a number set from its average. Since all numbers in your set are the same, there is no variation from its average, and the standard deviation is 0.
