I have repaired many of these; if a high pitched buzz when you plug the set in---flyback and horz. output transistor are bad--transistor has a generic number on it--Flyback is location number LL05, part number should be 257805---you will find RCA no longer has this part--most now are replaced with an asti #2078----CHECK the RCA number on Ebay---company I get them from is Suburban Electronics---Flyback and transistor are less then 30 dollars for both.

problem with RCA getting any schematic---check the horz output transistor for shorts--replace it and the flyback and you should be in business---the transistor is near the transformer on a heat sink.

You may have a fried horizontal output transistor and a defective flyback transformer. If indeed this set is 17 years old.......cheaper to replace him...sorry!

I already figured out that my flyback transformer was bad, this is an ongoing problem with a lot of RCA CRT televisions because RCA used very cheap parts in order to save them more money, rather than making there customers happy with good quality parts, and my TV was made in MEXICO, and that my friends is why we the American people are getting screwed. (Shame on you RCA)

My RCA F32650 turns on and has sound but no picture

You will have to take this in for service. The possibilities for your symptom are numerous - it could be flyback if the audio voltage is derived from the wall ac; it could be CRT; it could be video blanking (to protect the TV).

A technician need to check voltages to provide a suggested repair.

RCA F32650 32" TV Problem:

The flyback is a a block with some wires coming from it. One of the wire is a big red wire that goes to the picture tube. The FBT is usually on the right rear of the circuit board.

Please be careful when working around the FBT as there are extremely high voltages present - in excess of 25K.

I would suggest you take it to a service shop as when the FBT goes, other parts are usually gone too.

Absolutely right about the transistor and also check any adjacent resistors to the transformer and to the line output transistor. Good luck.

RCA(32 inch)

It is possible to repair it yourself. Let me caution you though. There are a number of generic manufacturers that sell replacement flyback transformers at less $$ than the original. The shop is most likety using the factory original which runs in the $75 range. Figuring on a typical labor rate of $125 for a 32" set gets you to the $200 figure. Realize also, that the $200 will include any other supportive parts that may be required in all probability as well as at least a 90 day guarantee.

RCA TELEVISION

Heres the fix for your set, replace the following 2 parts:

1) flyback transformer RCA part number 257805
2) horizontal output transistor RCA part number 237470
you must be proficient at soldering & un-soldering or you can`t replace these yourself, be advised that the anode lead coming from the top of the flyback transformer can carry a VERY NASTY shock if not discharged properly before trying to remove it from the picture tube, I`d strongly advise you to call a tech unless your familiar with this type of repair, BMW Rider
