I'm getting an error code 14 on a Rinnai 1004 F wall heater. I've unplugged overnight but still get the code.

The UPS man put boxes in front of our heater and it turned off with an error 14. I do not see an manual reset after taking the front panel off. Any suggestions.

SOURCE: Power reset - Rinnai 1004

Actually the Rinnai 1004 has an E2prom chip in it that should hold your last setting. If there is a power outage longer than 12 hours, you may have to reset it. A UPS may not supply enough power to keep the unit running. I have seen a battery with inverter setup but very costly. Try and unplug you heater for a few hours and see if the settings stayed. Extend the durration until you find the point of no return. Check all the error codes stored in the unit by holding down on the Economy button as well as the up and down arrows all at the same time. Because you will need both hands to do this, get a friend to write them down as they are displayed.

SOURCE: Getting an FH error code during the cycle count down

The FH code indicates it is not detecting water fill at the flow meter. Since you say that the washer is filling okay, I would check the wiring between the flowmeter and the control board. A common cause of this problem on this machine is the wiring harness jiggling loose. Unplug and reseat the wiring harness and see if it clears up the problem. Also look for and clean out any corrosion build-up where the harness plugs in. Hope this helped and best wishes.

SOURCE: Rinnai 1004 F Error Code 11

Code 11 is that the unit is trying to light but does not sense a flame after 5 seconds. Usually means you have run out of gas if you are bottled gas. Check your bottles are turned on if you are on LPG, you might need to change over manually. Have you anything else on gas?

My Rinnai heater starts then stops after 5 -10mins flashing 14.

14 is an error code alerting you that the unit is heating up too hot. Check the air filter and make sure it is clean. You may have to take the front panel off and inspect the burner area for any signs of overheating. Remove the trim panels closest to the wall and clean out any debris from behind the heater. Let us know next time what model you have. Good luck!

Brand new and just hooked up 1004 when run for a few minutes begins to have a squeaking noise.

Remove the two screws on the top right and left sides of the heater. Unplug the wires on the top right front light. Start the heater and listen where the squeek is coming from. Contact your installer for a warranty repair and give them the information where the squeek is coming from.

Rinnai 1004 heats to a temp 4 degrees higher than set temp, adjustment?

You can adjust the position of the room air sensor found on the back of the unit between the heater and the wall. It is a black rubber bulb with yellow wires. There is a few inches of extra wire you can extend higher to get a more accurate reading of room air. While you are back there, check for drafts that will give you false readings.

Rinnai 1004 fa not lighting

This heater needs some back pressure on the exhaust to work so while it is on your bench, take the reducing coupling found on your vent system and put it on the exhaust pipe to restrict the outlet size. Now cycle the heater with the front cover off and with both of the small rectangle viewing ports off so you can see the flame. The heater fan will start to turn closing the contacts on that little square pressure switch. If it does not close you will get this error code. Make sure the small hoses are attached to the switch and the exhaust system. If you hear some clicking going on at the gas valve you can assume that the pressure switch is closing. The gas valve will energize and send gas to the burner. Look for flame. There is a small probe that will sence flame within a few seconds and keep the unit on. If it doesn't, it will turn the unit off within 3-5 seconds. I suspect that a spider has set up shop somewhere within the heater and either restricting the flow of air to the pressure switch, the burner or you may have a bad pressure switch. If you need a switch, I can send you one for $15. Contact me at "[email protected]".
