Lexmark 260dn-Can anyone help me with smudging & incomplete fusion of ink to paper on printing?

Lexmark E260DN Monochrome printer - When printing, there is an area that repeats down the page every 2 inches or so where it appears the ink is not fusing to the paper and it rubs off. I have changed the toner and the photoconductor kit. Any suggestions?

SOURCE: blue color smears on every page

If you're still getting smudges, there must still be a label or part of a label either on one of the image drums or the transfer belt, i've found in the past it somethings gets stuck inside the unit on the cleaning blade. What i suggest is you run a print and open the front door at the paper travels along the transfer belt, look at all the image drums and see if you can see the smudge on one of them, if so the problem is caused by that cartridge if not it's in the transfer belt somewhere. You may need to try stopping the printer a few times and if the problem is in one of the cartridges, you will mst likely have to replace it, as with the transfer belt if you think that's causing the problem it's easier to remove it and rotate the belt manually.

Please note the image drums and the transfer belt are all light sensative

SOURCE: black ink smudges for color print mode only, not for grayscale

- Try to reallign the cartridge, run a print test, after that if the issue still persist - uninstall and reinstall software - run test and re-allign again the cardtridge using software. run print test again.

SOURCE: Smudges on color printing - Black OK

Had the same problem.

Smudges on the page in vertical lines down page, but mainly in the last few centimeters.

As it got worse they were at multiples of 2cm across the page.

Opened up the photocunductor unit, to find a lattice of reinforcing on the underside. At the intersections were small round pieces that are obviously supposed to be trimmed off, but some were raised and polished by the paper. I removed these and the printing was a lot better. Some lines remained, so I then sanded the whole of the underside of the cover tomake sure I had got everything. Still a few lines appeared, at which point I noticed that the cover was actually curved down, so the best solution would be to strengthen it so that it would stay straight and away from the paper.

I checked that there was enough clearance inside the machine, and then glued a piece of wood to the top of the cover near the raised section. I allowed the glue to dry completely before refitting the unit, as I did not know if the fumes may affect the printer.

Problem solved 100%, for a few pence, using readily available household items.

SOURCE: Samsung ML-2010 Mono Laser Printer leaves unwanted marks on page.

if older printer or well used printer (All laser printers if they have print quality issues - it is mostly either the toner or the fuser). the only way to tell is get (borrow) a toner and see if problem is the same or remove the fuser (the hot thing in the printer) and see if the "ironing" unit or fuser rollers are dirty or worn out or scratched

How do I fix HP LaserJet P1606dn printing issue? it continues to print vertical line/ smudge on the far left of the printed document. Does anyone have any suggestion regarding this issue?

The smudges on the side of the paper is most likely a piece of something rubbing against the paper just after the printer puts the ink on the paper. Inspect as much as possible the path that paper takes. Look at rollers. Anything that grab the paper. Look for ink and dust build up. As for the vertical lines. Could be several things. I you haven't used you printer for awhile the ink in the nozzle could of dried up. Most new printers have a nozzle cleaning function. Try that it a couple of times. See if that helps. If it shows any sign of change after that, it dried up ink. It's a hassle to try to get the ink flowing again. I normally just to replace the cartridges. Let me know if this helps or not.

5x7 inch paper moves towards end of print and black ink smudges edge of paper

Check for any small paper jam. Check the rollers, also use an alcohol swab to clean the rollers and check for ink leaking. Check you ink pad, it could be time for a new one.

Please check if the paper guides on the paper tray are correctly positioned. For example, if you are using a letter sized paper, make sure the guides are set to 8"x11".

I have a large list of envelopes that I have to print, I have tried to put the envelopes in the tray but it won't print unless I put them in the manual feeder. How do I fix this problem?

If your printer is the Lexmark E260dn, the tray doesn't support envelopes. The tray is for letter /legal /A4 or A5 paper sizes. For smaller type of media, it has to be fed through the manual feeder. I'm really sorry but I hope I can assist you more on this.
