E04 means that you are not draining quick enough, if you are using HE detergant then your drain line is probably clogged. There is a round access panel on the lower right corner of your washer. If you stick a small screwdriver through the tiny little hole on this panel and twist the panel off you will see the drain pump catch. You can twist this cap off by hand and remove all the debris inside. WATCH OUT a lot of water will be coming through.

On a front loading LG there is an acess panel on the lower left of the front panel. Open that little door and use the small hose to drain out the water left in the machine. (as long as the hose is not plugged with sand) Now, unscrew the big thing next to the hose, which is a filter. Chances are there is something there blocking the flow of water to the pump. If it is clear and still no pump out, you will have to replace the pump motor. (possible impeller loose on motor shaft)
The error indicates that the machine has taken too long to drain the water. Do the following.
Switch off the machine and disconnect the mains power.
Remove the access panel on the lower right front of the machine.
Remove the filter and make sure that the filter is not blocked and is clean and clear of all debris. Clean as required.
4.Proceed by checking the drain hose for proper connection and kinks and make sure that it is not blocked. 5.Also check that the main waste drain pipe, if you use one, is not blocked and clean if required. 6.Reconnect the power and switch the machine on. If the problem persists then do the following. 7.Switch off the machine and disconnect the mains power. 8.Check the electrical connections at the pump and make sure it is operational. 9.Remove the connecting hoses, and expect water to drain out and make sure the pipes are not blocked with debris or any object blockage. 10.Makes sure the pump appears clear and that the impeller looks in good condition. 11.Reconnect the hoses and then reconnect power and switch the machine on. 12.If problem has not been corrected, then remove the pump and check that the drive coupling to the motor is OK and that the motor turns OK. If all is well then replace the pump.
not draining your washer at all, pump may be bad or no power to pump, take the drain hose out of the "stand-pipe" where water enters the sewer drain, and lower to floor and see if water drains by gravity if only slowly your pump or hose may have a slug of crud in it blocking drainage to sewer pipe
Wow - I can't believe it. I had the SAME problem and searched the internet. This was the first site I found and was initially discouraged since there was NO solution, but upon further searching, I found the answer. I'll post the site here http://applianceguru.com/forum2/14805.html and you can just hop on and find out the answer in a much more helpfully worded way than I could ever do it!
I found a girls bobby pin and a rubber band stopping my drain from functioning! I thought it would FOR SURE be legos, but those boys are off the hook!
You may need to Clean out the pump catch to do this you need to remove the drain pump access cover, insert a pointed object (or tool) into the hole, Bottom right front of the unit push in to release the latch and rotate the cover clockwise.
you will need to clean this out use a shop vac to remove the water in the unit or have plenty towels handy
AS far as the fault code E:04=Er:04washing=Door control broken
Cause=Faulty Triac or control module
check and see that the entire drain line is free from any obstructions, if you have lowered the hose and still not draining entirely, its a sure sign of obstruction somewhere in the drain line or even the drain pump.
