basically i have had at least 6 of this type of iron (not all russell hobbs) and if they stop steaming either contact manufacturers who will replace if under guarantee or buy a new one! in my experience once it stops nothing on this eath will entice it to start again! good luck

SOURCE: Russell Hobbs Steam Glide 2200 won't produce steam.

I had a problem and tracked it down to the pump. If you take the iron apart, the pump sits towards the front of the iron and has 3 tubes connected to it. Remove the srew-down bracket and free the pump from the plastic clasps on the base. Disconnect tubes and wires (remembering where they go.

Remove the circular securing spring from the front of the pump and drop the metal barrel from the housing. Unscrew the rear plastic assembly and set aside. there is a joint inside where the plastic assembly was - this is has an o-ring and is simply a pull-apart. It deos not need screwing. Pull the metal barrel apart, taking care to note the sequence for reassembly. Inside the barel is a larger rubber washer. Pull on the metal tube that goes through the centre of the washer using a pair of pliers - it will come free.

You will then see the problem - the spring inside the metal barrel will have broken. Take care, because at the other end of the spring is a small plastic washer that must be retained. Find a pen that has a short spring inside and use this as a replacement. If necessary, you can trim the spring to make it the right lenght. Ensure you have removed all broken pieces of spring, and reassemble. Try it out before finally attaching the pump inside the iron. It took me 2-3 attempts to get the spring tension right. If you can find a 'PENAC RB-085B BA1002' pen, the spring is perfect.

Once you have got it right, reassemble.

I have to replace the spring approx every 6 months as the replacement is obviously not meant for the job and wears or rusts or breaks. However, I am getting extended use from my otherwise broken iron.

Take care - things inside get HOT!!

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: no steam

its due to not getting appropriate required current to the main board of the unit.also check out any thing got loose on the board .first off all try doing dry /cold solder to whole board it should work if not then check out for the proper current flowing through the resistors mostly 1 of them may be definately faulty and needs replacement. thanks.

Lights come on when plugged in, doesn't heat up and has a beeping sound , colour panel is red thankyou

Read the operator's instructions. They are available of the Russell Hobbs site or by contacting Russell Hobbs UK on-line through the "Contact" link. In most cases, steam irons tend to clog with hard water deposits and need to be de-scaled from time to time. If that doesn't help you, buy a new iron. Rowenta's seem to perform best.

I have so far seen 3 other people with the problem i have with my russell hobbs steam glide iron 13153. I have tried what was suggested to me but nothing has worked. the iron gets hot but no steam coming...

I would write to russell hobbs and complain, my friend bought one of these 18 months ago and hers got hot but no steam through. She sent it back to them and they sent her a new one as a gesture of goodwill.

The iron heats up, but when the steam generator button is pressed no steam gets through at all.

Chemicals and minerals in the water have probably clogged the vents. Empty the water. Pour 1/2 cup WHITE vinegar into the reservoir. Turn on your iron and let it heat. Then press the steam generator button several times until the vinegar is gone. Unplug the iron. As it is cooling, take acotton swab and gently wipe the surface of the vents. You can probe GENTLY with the swab, but don't push it into the vent or the cotton head may get stuck.
As you're pressing the steam button, keep the iron in the ironing position, not standing. If the vinegar just will not come out of the vents, use a wooden toothpick to loosen the build up.
This always works well for me and I hope it does for you.

Brown water and seems like sand or fine grit comes from iron ,when first put on with the steam

sounds like it is time to de-scale the iron to loosen all the deposits inside the unit.
add some white viegar to the water ( which should be distilled water ) and heat up and let the iron steam out the solution. now add just water to the unit shake it and rinse out with water and drain. now do one more vinegar / water de-scaling and rinse out again. now fill with just distilled water and let it steam out and now your iron should be clean as new.

I have a Russell Hobbs Steam Generator iron - less than two years old. It has started to leak water - not really sure where it's coming from - it just pours out and eventually fuses the plug.
