Usually, error code 5100 means some kind of obstruction in the print path, maybe something that had fallen inside the printer, the gears being jammed by something that got loose inside the printer, or ink on the clear plastic encoder/timing strip (a plastic strip about 1/4" in width that you can see running from side to side and connects to the print head).
Clean the plastic strip with alcohol , check if there is nothing blocking the head carriage set (sometimes kids play and hide toys, pens, coins, inside printers, VCRs or any other devices that have "doors"...).

i'm using canon printer mp258, the printer wont print anything after i refill both ink(color & black), the both l.e.d still lid and and the alarm l.e.d still lid and the printer window keep popping telling me the colors now empty..heeeeellllppppp.........
1)try to reset the printer - wont work
2)try using the resetter - wont work(error 006 occur)

1) Press and Hold the On/Off button for 1 sec. until the printer shuts off.
2) Unplug the USB cable and then the power cord.
3) Press and Hold the power button for 1 sec. this should turn the printer back on.
4) Wait 10 minutes, then plug the power cord back in and then the USB cable.
5) Press the power button to turn it on again.
that should get you working.
