Mitsubishi 60638 solid green then starts flashing red 6 times then yellow 1 time Back fan has been replaced all of inside has been cleaned and bulb is not blown. What does code 61 mean for this model that is about 6 yrs old.

If the LED's blink first red and then yellow, they are giving one of the 2-digit error codes shown in the last eight rows of the table, below. For example, 3 red blinks followed by 4 yellow blinks would represent error code "34."That means the lamp requires replacing.

I agree that the pictographs are not very helpful. You probably have one of the new chargers. I have an old one, which is a little easier to figure out.

From top to bottom

1. The flashing green light with the electric plug indicates that the unit is plugged in and ready to go.
2. The flashing red little fan means that the battery is too warm so it is just cooling it and not charging it at that moment.
3. The solid red empty battery outline means that it is charging but hasn't got very far, less than 80% full.
4. The mostly full battery outline with both solid red and green lights at the same time means it is 80% full or more
5. The full battery outline and solid green with the musical notes means it is full up.
6. The broken battery outline with flashing red and green means you've got a broken battery.
7. The yellow light with the wrench means the charger is "conditioning" the battery, whatever that means.
8. The yellow light with the fan means "cooling abnormality."

not sure but check internal fan is functioning correctly...I had same problem with a hitachi

These blinks [flashes] are fault indication (Error Codes). From the number of blinks occur at one time switch ON, you can get an idea about the faulty circuit section inside it. This will make repair easy. These are called blinking codes. Make sure about the exact number of blinking of the standby/power LED, by switching On & OFF the set, for at least two times. Count it carefully. If you wish to get some details, check the site linked here. If the bulb is under warranty then take it back.

Perhaps it needs the bulb, but there is also a good possibility that the lamp fan is getting clogged and shutting down the set. This is NOT the fan you see in the back, instead, it is above the lamp, and is a small blower-type fan, that tends to clog with dust. You CAN check this, when you open the lamp door,you can see the blower wheel, and if it is all dusty, it needs to be cleaned out--but do NOT just blow it out, or you might clog the engine!! It needs to be removed, and cleaned out of the set.

But first...if the blower is not too dirty...try another lamp.

Press the input/device button and the menu button at the same time. Green LED will blink a two digit code blink 1st digit short pause blink 2nd digit longer pause and repeat. Any number of problems can cause this same symptom.

If the red LED your refering to is the Status LED and not the Lamp LED then you have big problems. A red Status LED indicates no communication from the Format board to the DMD board (light engine). 1/2 the time caps on the format board itself the other 1/2 must send entire electronics package to Mitsubishi.
