Why does snorkel occasionally get blocked?

Suddenly when I breathe in there's no air; and I don't always have enough puff after several strokes to exhale sharply to unblock it.

This problem that your having is all too common on Jaguars. I have a 2002 X-type and I have been completely screwed over with it. I've had all of your problems and then some. The noise your hearing is a prop shaft most likely in the front of the vehicle. Jag says that it doesn't need to be replaced but you always can. They quoted me somewhere close to 1,300. Good Luck.

I have a problem!my 2005 vento zip r3i turbocam scooter is getting fire and gas but it dose not want to run? an u please help me?


It has to start if it's sparking & getting fuel. Maybe the engine is not breathing properly, is the air filter blocked? Also try loosening the exhaust at the head, often the silencer becomes blocked with burnt two stroke oil & exhaust gases can't escape. By loosening the two header bolts/nuts, it lets the gases out. This is not a fix but merely trying to determine what the problem is.

assuming u have enough gas in the tank,,i would b looking at removing and checking the spark plugs.

tdc is Top Dead Center on your #1 Cylinder (piston)

Take out the No. 1 sparkplug, turn the crank by hand, and when it is close use a plastic (not wire, not wood) coat-hanger cut along it's longest length. Second: You need to know more than just where TDC is for most applications. What most people really need to know is where is TDC on the COMPRESSION stroke. (The stroke where the spark plug fires, rather then the exhaust stroke where the piston pushes the waste gasses out of the combustion chamber at TDC). You do this by putting your thumb against the hole where spark plug # 1 goes. Then rotate the engine by hand (ALWAYS clockwise if you are standing in front of the vehicle, facing it) and wait until you feel a large puff of air escaping. THAT is TDC on the compression stroke. Pull off your Distributor Cap and look at where the rotor is pointing. It should be pointing to Cylinder #1. If not, you either mistook the small puff of air that happens on the exhaust stroke for the big puff of air that happens on compression, OR, your distributor is not seated right in the engine.

I'm trying to find top dead center on my small block chevy


Take out the No. 1 sparkplug, turn the crank by hand, watch for the timing mark to come up and when it is close insert screwdriver or similar into cylindar and feel the piston come up. TDC should be at the top of the stroke and match the timing mark. Should remember but don't, No. 1 is drivers side ?? Looking straight down at the motor, it is the one farther foward.

Two major things wrong with this answer: First: NEVER insert a screwdriver into the spark plug hole to find TDC. You can nick or scratch the top of the piston head, which will cause hot spots which in time will crack the piston head which in time will mean you will be paying for a major engine rebuild! Instead, use a plastic (not wire, not wood) coat-hanger cut along it's longest length. Second: You need to know more than just where TDC is for most applications. What most people really need to know is where is TDC on the COMPRESSION stroke. (The stroke where the spark plug fires, rather then the exhaust stroke where the piston pushes the waste gasses out of the combustion chamber at TDC). You do this by putting your thumb against the hole where spark plug # 1 goes. Then rotate the engine by hand (ALWAYS clockwise if you are standing in front of the vehicle, facing it) and wait until you feel a large puff of air escaping. THAT is TDC on the compression stroke. BTW: Cylinder #1 on a Chevy 350 V8 is on the front left (meaning driver's side of the engine closest to the front of the vehicle.)

Obviously, that should not happen. You have to spend the time making sure the fit is perfect.

How exactly do snorkels work when you are under the water???


Or more to the point: Snorkels don't work under water. They work on the surface by allowing the wearer to have his/her face in the water so that one can look at what is going on and the top of the snorkel is several inches above the surface allowing the user to breath through the tube. If, as often happens, the snorkel gets water in it, there is a trap at the bottom that catches it so you don't **** it into your lungs and on the next exhale you do so forcefully and this expels all the water from the tube and allows you to continue breathing.

The right snorkel for me


"A snorkel must fit comfortably in your mouth, allow you to purge water out of the mouthpiece and hose quickly and help you to swim efficiently. But, the most important characteristics to remember when choosing a snorkel are its length and the diameter of its barrel. Snorkels must not be too long or too short. If a snorkel is too long it will be difficult to breathe because the barrel will fill up with carbon dioxide. Every time you breathe out carbon dioxide through your snorkel your breath must travel up and out of the barrel of your snorkel to allow you to draw oxygen back down the barrel and into your lungs. If your snorkel is too long you will only push a percentage of the carbon dioxide up and out of the barrel during your exhale. You will need to inhale oxygen before all the carbon dioxide has been pushed out; leaving the percentage of carbon dioxide entering your bloodstream higher each time you take a breath. This cycle could lead to suffocation. If a snorkel is too short it will constantly fill with water, requiring you to constantly force the water out of your snorkel which can be very exhausting. The inside diameter of your snorkel must be approximately three quarters of an inch or 1.9 cm. If the snorkel is thinner than .75 inches it will be difficult to breathe because there will not be enough room in the barrel for you to draw enough air into your lungs. This will cause you to breathe harder and rapidly, which could cause hyperventilation. If the barrel is thicker than .75 inches it will be too large and will be uncomfortable to use and attach to your mask. Learning to attach your snorkel to your scuba mask to make sure it is easy to grab and use is an important part of safe scuba diving practices. Snorkels are attached to the left side of your mask with a snorkel keeper. Snorkel keepers are either plastic or rubber and most use a post-hole closure. Each snorkel keeper is different and attaching your snorkel to your mask with a snorkel keeper requires practice. If you will detach your snorkel from your mask after each dive you should practice attaching your snorkel, as it can be a little tricky. Alternately, you can leave your snorkel attached to your mask if you are diving more than once in a day. "

Stalling & high idle 2002 Honda Odyssey


vacuum leak..look to area behind air cleaner to intake .. snorkel area first..spray carb cleaner there after you start it to discover vacuum leak.... this is a guess .. but a good one... check first for hoses off/ leaking intake air sources and let me/us know

Do a compression test for each spark plug. Remove one spark at a time and see if you have the same pression for each one, if you don't remove valve cover and you see that the valves is not coming up
