Boots halfway and dies

My four year old 1100 suddenly wouldn't boot at all, but then later booted about halfway - showing the first screen and the bar moving along at the bottom of that screen. But before the bar completed its journey, the screen went dark and the computer turned off. And then it wouldn't boot at all after several tries, and then it suddenly tried to boot again - got halfway again and died again. I've taken the battery in an out and the power cord as well. Cleaned the heatsink, moved the RAM from one slot to the other. Still the same problem. Occasionally tries to boot, but can't complete the task and dies. Help - any ideas?

I read on another site about the hibernate sensor that is located on the underside if the touchpad. Apparently it becomes desensitized over time and the machine wants to be in permanent hibernate mode. I opened up the computer, located the cylindrical item described on the other site and removed it. Put things back together and the machine started right up and works without a problem - except it no longer goes into hibernate mode when I shut the cover. Not a problem compared to a computer that doesn't work... Thanks for your response.

Hello!! the motherboard MCP73VT came in a emachine desktop I bought another one because the one in the machine does not want to boot.

that is a very old mobo, emachines is owned by acer.com now.
forget booting that last and means to an OS, like XP?
this PC is 14 years old. now and the coin cell battery is dead, located just below x16 PCI-e slot. flatsocket
first is that and next is get you monitor working with BIOS pages DEL key is the hot key to BIOS.
booting is last,(the OS boots last)

power is first and all fans working
PSU 24pin and that 4 pin power jack to CPU jack must be both connected.
the jumper (many) on the mobo must be set correctly the manual is found googled.

Use the VGA port on the MOBO rear.
the PC power lamp must glow turned on at power switch.
the fans must blow. all . must.

then the BIOS flash screen shows next and then POST error, if any
and list BIOS boot order set to HDD0 first. top of list , if the HDD is good it boots 14 year old OS, that is fully infected as all are XP.
got DDr2 RAM?

the goal is get bios working first and no coin cell lasted 14 years not one, sorry, 7 is spec max
1/2 that parked in a box the attic,

In BIOS new coin set time and date, and boot order. if it will not boot.

Hi may I know what operating system you have on your laptop? If may be due to RAM or maybe with RAID or BIOS. Reinstall your operating system it will fix your bluescreen error.

EMachines eMD620 suddenly shutdown and not boot anymore

When this happened was the laptop overly hot? If the laptop's head got too high it could have shutdown to protect itself. It wouldn't boot until the heat had disparate. Sit you laptop aside for about 30 minutes and see if it will boot then. If it does you might want to check out a cool mat.

My Kamik Boots which were purchased at the local canadian tire store in Sydney Nova Scotia in January of this year have turned hard and are split open from the sole to the top of the boot. This has...

It is possible that they were exposed to something that oxidized the rubber and made it split like this. Check with the crappy tire store to see ifyou can get an adjustment.

Boots to progress bar before loading windows

It seems that windows tries to check your Hard Disk for errors before loading the system files to memory. Do you hear some sounds from your hard disk? If you can successfully get to windows, open my computer => right click on drive C => Click on Properties => Click on TOOLS Tab and click CHECK NOW button.

Check the next 2 options and answer YES when windows ask you to schedule a thorough scan during next boot.

Regards!

I was playing online games on my sony vaio. Suddenly I got blue lines on the screen and the laptop stopped responding. So I tried restarting the laptop but I get blue thin vertical lines before the laptop...

Blue thin lines before it boots will rule out an operating system or driver fault. So it would appear something in the machine has failed.
Do you have a VGA monitor you can connect to it and see whether it shows the fault? This will show that if the fault also shows on the external monitor, it is likely an electronic fault on the main board, whereas if it works on the external monitor but not on the built-in monitor, my guess would be the cable that goes from the main board up through the hinge of the screen into it, or a connector, or an actual fault with the LCD display.
Windows booting normally once the display drivers were disabled indicates to me that Windows is no longer detecting the faulty display and therefore boots normally - possibly pointing to failed electronics in some way. It could even be corrupt BIOS that controls the video or something along these lines, though that's unlikely.
Good luck, either way it sounds like it's off to a computer repair shop. Is it under warranty?
